Chaeyoung's POV
As soon as Jungkook and I entered the performing arts center, we were almost trampled by a frantic Lisa. My family had already separated from the two of us to find seats.
"Gah, you guys are finally here! Hurry, we need the costumes!" Lisa hastily grabbed the bags from my arms and she gestured for us to follow her.
"Sorry! We had a situation!" I exclaimed as Lisa all but sprinted backstage to where the rest of the class were.
I exchanged looks with Jungkook and he shrugged before grabbing my hand and pulled me to follow Lisa.
"Jungkook! Did you oversleep again?" Taehyung slapped Jungkook on the back once we reached backstage and it probably hurt because he visibly flinched.
"Jeez you and your aggresive slaps... And no, I was playing Overwatch."
"Like always." I added, rolling my eyes playfully.
Taehyung nodded. "Not surprised, I would have done the same, but Lisa told me that she would hide my console the next time she comes over, and you know how good she is at hiding things..." Taehyung shuddered.
"Anyway, get dressed because I'm pretty sure your one of the first ones performing," Taehyung pointed at Jungkook, "with your last name and all." And with that, Taehyung blended in with my other classmates, leaving Jungkook and me alone.
I squeezed Jungkook's fingers and he lets a small smile slip on his face. "You got this! Make your teacher proud." I offered, pumping my fist in the air.
"Of course. I wouldn't let my teacher down especially when it's you. And you did tell me I was good at everything." Jungkook recalled.
"I mean, it's true." I shrugged. "Now hurry and get dressed. I don't want Taehyung to come back here and complain again." I joked.
Jungkook laughed. "You know him well."
"He is Lisa's boyfriend who happens to also be my best friend so of course."
Jungkook squeezed my hand one last time and gazed into my eyes before he let go to get dressed. I stared at his retreating form, my heart fluttering at the look he had just given me. I sighed before I also went to get prepared for my performance which wasn't till much later. However, I liked being prepared early.

"Now that was an amazing performance by Hwang Eun-bi!" Mrs. Kang exclaimed. "I didn't know she could dance..." Eunbi bowed and shot one last smile to the crowd before heading backstage.
"Let's see, who's next..." Mrs. Kang murmured, glancing down at the piece of paper she held. I turned to my left to face Jungkook who was in a buttoned up white jacket with a white ruffled shirt underneath paired with white pants. His bangs were swept to the side, revealing his forehead.
Jungkook was fidgeting with his hands. I reached out and placed his hands in mine, rubbing soothing circles. He glanced up. "You'll do fine." I reassured him, offering a small smile. "You practiced a lot. Besides, you look handsome." I felt myself blush, but I kept my gaze on him.
Jungkook took a deep breathe and leaned in to engulf me in a hug. I yelped in surprise, but let myself relax in his embrace. "That's not fair. I wanted to say you were beautiful first..."
I giggled in his arms. "Well too bad."
Jungkook stepped out of the embrace, resting his hands on my shoulders. "Alright, I got this."
I nodded. "Fighting!"
"And another fantasic performance by Jeon Heejin! Dang, I never noticed how talented this year was..." Mrs. Kang muttered under her breathe. "Anyway up next is Jeon Jungkook with Paper Hearts! Oh, and he's got a guitar!" She added when she saw Jungkook approach with the instrument.
Jungkook awkwardly waved at the crowd before standing in front of the microphone. "Hi, my name is Jungkook. I wanted to dedicate this song to my mom. I hope you're doing well up there." He smiled solemnly before he began to strum his guitar.
Jungkook began to sing, and I found myself entranced with his voice. I knew he was a good singer because he sometimes practiced in his bedroom late at night when he thought I wasn't listening. His voice was laced with emotion as he continued to sing Paper Hearts. My eyes began to sting and I blinked repeatedly to keep my face water free. Jungkook must really miss his mother. I couldn't imagine losing someone as important as her at a young age.
Jungkook strummed the last note of his guitar and the crowd went silent for a few seconds before one person started to clap and in a moment, everyone in the room was clapping, me included.
"Wow, what an emotional performance by Mr. Jeon!" Mrs. Kang exclaimed, wiping a tear from her eye. "Oh my goodness, my eyes just can't seem to stop watering!" The crowd laughed at her comment.
Jungkook bows to the crowd before walking towards my direction. "How did I do?" He asked once he was close enough.
"You were amazing! Ahh, I have such a talented boyfriend!" I gushed before engulfing him in a hug, most likely catching him off guard because he didn't return the reciprocate the action until after a few seconds.
I felt my cheeks redden in his embrace. "Sorry, was this too much? We can uh- separate if you want."
Jungkook laughed as he placed a hand on my head, pulling me closer to his chest. "No, I like this. Besides, this should be my reward for making my teacher proud and we're even now since you surprised me with a hug earlier."
I giggled before I leaned my head back a few inches to make eye contact. "You're really talented Jungkook. And a fast learner too." I shoved my face back into his chest. "I got really lucky, huh?"
"Chaeyoung, you're as amazing as me. You're beautiful, talented, kind, a good teacher, and clumsy at times, but that's what makes you, you." Jungkook
murmured into my hair. "So don't talk yourself down like that."We separated from our embrace and shared a smile. Gosh darn is his smile adorable.
I heard a cough from behind us, and I turned around and found myself face to face with Lisa. "Ahem, that was cute and all, but PDA much?"
I raised my eyebrows. "You're one to talk Lisa."
"C'mon, Taehyung and I aren't that bad, right?" I pursed my lips. "Fine, fine, maybe we're worse than the two of you— Anyway, Chaeyoung needs to get prepared. She has to perform soon." Lisa explained.
"I'm already wearing my outfit though?"
"Not that, the makeup artists want to fix up your makeup a bit as well as your hair." Lisa pointed towards a door. "They're waiting for you there."
I nodded and Lisa winked at us before walking away. I turned towards Jungkook before shrugging. "I guess I'll see you in a bit?"
"Don't get too nervous, if I can do it, then you can do it." Jungkook said, giving me a thumbs up.
I nodded. "Alright, I got this."
Jungkook offered me a smile before I made my way to the makeup room.
