Chaeyoung's POV
Lisa and I panted as we stepped into the room just as the bell rang.
It turned out that Lisa went the wrong direction, so we ended up having to sprint to the other side of the school to make it on time.
"I'm sorry Chaeyoung, and I was the one who was supposed to be helping you..." Lisa looked down, a pout on her face.
I patted her back, laughing, "If you didn't help me, I would have never found this room. Besides, it was kinda fun."
"Alright girls, enough chit chat, go find your assigned seats." The teacher said sternly from the front, staring us both down. Lisa and I bowed simultaneously and we both looked at the screen to find our seats.
As I settled down on my seat, the girl beside me started to look at me. At first, I ignored her. I was new after all, so it was understandable.
"I know it's boring, but since it's the first day, I want you to get to know your partner. There are some icebreaker questions on the board. You have the last 20 minutes of class to talk with your peers." Right after the last words left the teachers' mouth, the classroom increased in volume.
I looked at the girl beside me, and saw that she was still looking at me.
"Um, hi?" I said, "is there something wrong with my face? You've been staring at me the last 25 minutes or so."
The girl didn't respond, but just continued to stare at me. It was then that the girl began to fall forward.
"Whoa there!" I exclaimed in surprise, catching her by the shoulders before she proceeded any further.
"Huh? Where am I?" The girl asked groggily, rubbing her eyes.
"We're in the classroom." I said, "and for the last 25 minutes you've been staring at me." I added.
The girl blinked repeatedly, "Did I?" She stared blankly at me before an imaginary light bulb appeared above her head, "Oh! Sorry, I sleep with my eyes open sometimes." She chuckled sheepishly, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her hair.
My eyes widened in surprise. There are actually people that can do that? I'm jealous.
"Oh, it's nothing to be jealous about, it's a hassle sometimes." The girl said, as if she was reading my mind.
I placed a hand on my mouth, embarrassed, "Did I say that out loud?"
The girl nodded, "Anyways, what are we supposed to be doing?"
"We're supposed to be introducing ourselves, and answering the icebreaker questions on there," I gestured to the board, "but that's optional."
"Alright, I guess I'll start." The girl cleared her throat, "My name's Jisoo, and I'm most likely the weirdest person you'll ever meet. I'm a senior, I like food, and I also like sleep." She paused, pondering, "Oh! I almost forgot, but I also have a boyfriend that's in his second year of college." She finished, a twinkle in her eyes, "If you ever meet him, please don't tell him that I almost forgot about his existence."
I nodded my head robotically. I didn't know how to react to the last part she said.
"Okay, well my name's Chaeyoung and I'm a junior. I've recently just moved to a complex near here, so I'm new to the district."
Jisoo suddenly grabbed my hands and leaned forward, "How is it like living alone? My parents won't allow me to because they don't trust me." She pouted.
"Uh, well," I bit the fingernails on one of my hands, "It's not too bad so far, it's just- yeah it's going well so far." I cut myself off before I could say anything about my neighbor. Who knows what would happen if it got out that two high school students living alone were next door neighbors. Not a good look.
"I see...." Jisoo grinned. The bell rang just then. "Well, I guess I'll see you around Chaeyoung!" She stood up from her seat, and shot a peace sign towards my direction.
Lisa headed towards my direction just as Jisoo left. "Was that Jisoo just now?" Lisa asked as we both left the classroom.
I nodded, "Do you know her?"
"Yup! She's one of my closest friends! She seems to like you too." Lisa smiled.
"How's my favorite girl doing today?" A deep voice whom I did not recognize boomed from behind us.
I turned around just in time to see a guy engulf Lisa in a back hug.
"Ack! Tae! Stop doing that, it tickles!" Lisa giggled in his embrace.
"Uh, I'll just leave?" I said awkwardly not wanting to intrude.
"Oh no, Chaeyoung, you can stay. It's just that this idiot," Lisa poked 'Tae' on the cheek, "needs to leave."
The guy pouted, before sneaking in a kiss on Lisa's cheek. I turned away in embarrassment. PDA much?
"Taehyung! That's it, no more kisses today." Lisa announced, breaking away from his embrace and attempting to march towards me, but she was pulled back into his embrace.
"Taehyung, seriously, we're going to be late at this point." Lisa scolded 'Taehyung.'
"Fine, fine." Taehyung complied before inally noticing my existence, "And who might this be?"
Lisa leaned back against the guy, "That's Chaeyoung, who you would have noticed if you paid attention to your surrondings." She said, before looking back at me, "This idiot here is my boyfriend Taehyung."
Taehyung flashed a grin that resembled a square towards me. "Howdy."
"Hi." I replied awkwardly, "Listen, I really should be going now." I said, pointing at the clock, "I don't want to be late."
Lisa glanced at the clock before breaking her embrace from Taehyung, only to grab his hand in a hurry, "I'm really sorry Chaeyoung! If only this guy here was more considerate," she glared at Taehyung, "I'll see you later!" With that, she began sprinting with Taehyung tailing behind her.
I sighed. Don't you just love third wheeling?
