Chaeyoung's POV
The rest of the school day flew by. During lunch, I had sat with Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo, which I found to be a miracle because out of the people that could have been Jennie's friends, it just so happened to be the two classmates that I had already met. I also saw Jungkook in the lunch room, but he sat together with Taehyung. Plus, there were a crowd of girls swarming the pair (much to Lisa's dismay).
-
"It's okay Lisa," Jisoo reassured Lisa after seeing her staring over at Taehyung's direction, "Taehyung will stay loyal to you..." she paused, "probably?"
"Unnie!" Lisa crossed her arms, a pout on her face.
"Or we could just call him over?" Jennie suggested, "He'll gladly do so." She smirked suggestively.
Lisa looked over at me, a plea of help on her face.
"I mean, with what I saw earlier..." I added, "He's crazy for you Lisa. That much I can see and I've only seen you guys together once." I smiled.
Lisa who was sitting beside me suddenly engulfed me in a side hug and glared at the two across the table, "She's my favorite now."
I had flinched from the sudden contact, but regained my composure after seeing the look of betrayal on Jisoo's face.
"Fine, I was planning on buying you steak for dinner today, so I guess that's not happening," Jisoo scoffed playfully, holding onto Jennie's arm, "I guess I'll take Jennie instead."
"Wait, unnie! I take it back!"
-
I chuckled at the memory as I walked back to my apartment.
"What were you just laughing about?" I turned around and found myself face to face with my neighbor.
"Oh, just things." I replied, waving it off. I was a little embarrassed that he witnessed me laughing by myself.
"Hmm." He hummed, not quite convinced.
We walked together side to side, but it wasn't as awkward as it was in the morning.
"So..." I said, attempting a conversation, "You're popular, huh?" I asked, recalling earlier events as we both stopped walking upon seeing the red signal light.
I felt Jungkook glance at me for a second before he looked away, "I suppose. I never really gave it a thought." I looked up at him and saw him scratch the back of his neck, "I'm not really good with girls, so it's a bit bothersome."
"Is that so? Then why can you talk so comfortably with me?" I asked, his confession piquing my interest.
Jungkook stood for still for a few moments before shrugging his shoulders, "I don't know, it's just a feeling? I feel like I can trust you."
What was that supposed to mean? "Are you telling me that you don't see me as a girl?" I puffed my cheeks, a bit offended (okay, maybe I was a bit more than 'quite' offended).
Jungkook immediately turned towards me to shake his head profusely, his eyes wide, "No, no, that's not what I meant. I just can't explain it." He explained in a panic.
I smiled in response, "No worries, I was just teasing you. It's the same with you, I feel like I can trust you too." I admitted, glancing back at the signal light, "Oh, it's green!" Before Jungkook could say anything in reply, I had already sprinted ahead.
