The door closed.
Now Zhan Yao was all alone again. Except for the two guards who gave him a last doubtful nervous glance before focusing on the screens like they alway did. But their company didn't matter to Zhan Yao at all. Wether they were there or not - he couldn't care less.
The only person whose presence caught his interest inside this building was Yutong.
But soon even he wouldn't come to visit him anymore.
Then, Zhan Yao was going to be truly left alone.
He laid down on the small bed. He could just barely fit on it. It was a wonder that they both fit on the small thing earlier. Especially Yutong with his big body. But, well, Yutong had practically laid on top of him.
Zhan Yao blushed and buried his face in the pillow. There still was a lingering scent of Yutong around him. He wondered how long this scent would last. A day? Or probably only a few hours? Maybe not even a full hour?
He didn't have anything of Yutong to remember him after their future break-up. Maybe he should wait a bit longer? Ask him for something he could remember him by?
No. That would be really embarassing. And even more: completely suspicious. Asking him for a memento and one visit later asking for a break-up. That would be completely stupid.
Maybe he could just steal something from him? Also not an option. Yutong would find out right away.
He turned to lay on his back and raised his left hand to take a look at his long slender fingers. They had taken his ring away before throwing him into his cell. The ring Yutong had given him. Zhan Yao clenched his hand to a fist and looked away.
He knew he was only avoiding the topic. But that was no good. Knowing Yutong, he would come visit again tomorrow straight after his work ended. Until then he had to find a convincing way to break up with him that Yutong would believe.
Make him believe Zhan Yao was a criminal who only used him and doesn't love him. That would be a hard one.
Zhan Yao was well aware of how much trust Yutong put in him. Hell, he could murder someone right in front of that guy's eyes and he still wouldn't believe it. Even though he was so righteous. When it came to Yao, Bai Yutong could easily lose all his reasoning and self-control.
Making that kind of man break up with him under the pretense that he was a psychopathic murderer who used Bai Yutong for his own benefits was pretty much impossible. Especially since he wasn't. He still loved Yutong. That's what brought him in this kind of situation in the first place.
What a hassle. Bai Yutong sure knew how to annoy him.

He was tired.
Not the perfect condition he could imagine when he had to face Yutong soon.
Even though he was a genius and a master at manipulating - Yutong was far from easy to fool. And he was unconditionally convinced of Zhan Yao's innocence.
Zhan Yao had strained his brain for the whole night to come up with a strategy. He wasn't satisfied by the result at all. It was completely lacking and too simple. But sometimes simple is the best, right?
A look to the clock on the wall confirmed that he's still got a bit of time until the mouse arrived.
He tried to mentally prepare himself.
He imagined possible outcomes. Like how would Yutong react? What would he say? What would he do? How would he try to reason with Zhan Yao?
And how would he himself act towards him in that situation?
