Chapter 25

She explained and then quickly exited the room with an even wider smile than the one she had when she entered - leaving a confused Zhan Yao and a smirking Bai Yutong behind.

Silence engulfed the room. Zhan Yao glanced at Bai Yutong who looked back at him with a smug expression - amusement sparking in his eyes.

"You're not going to stay here for the week."

Zhan Yao said firmly.

"Obviously. With your recovery speed you'll probably take more than a week."

Bai Yutong retorted calmly, making Zhan Yao mad. But before they could start their bickering, they were interrupted by the doctor who came in to check up on Zhan Yao. Afterwards, the whole team took their turns to visit him. They were too afraid to visit all at once after their encounter with the nurse the other day.

Bai Yutong had to leave at some point to take care of the case. He didn't want to leave Zhan Yao alone but he had to and with his brother assuring him to stay by Yao's side for the whole day, he felt more relieved.

Like that, the whole day passed more or less uneventfully and it was nearing the end of visiting hours when Bai Yutong finally made his way back to the hospital. On the corridor, he met the nurse from the morning.

"Hello, you're back."

She greeted him cheerfully, despite looking a bit tired out from the day herself - being a nurse was surely exhausting as well, Bai Yutong imagined.

"Yeah, I am. Did the ca-, ahem, did Zhan Yao behave himself?"

He smiled back and quickly corrected himself when he almost slipped Zhan Yao's nickname.

The nurse just gave him a knowing look and responded with a chuckle.

"Of course he has. The professor is a very nice patient. He doesn't make a fuss and is very polite. He seems to have a great personality as well. You're a very lucky man, Mr. Detective."

She teased and made him a little embarrassed. He smiled dumbly and scratched his nape awkwardly. Though Zhan Yao and him didn't hide their relationship, they didn't exactly get out in the open with it just yet either. So it was kind of unfamiliar to Bai Yutong to openly talk about it. But it was not uncomfortable - on the contrary - it made him very happy.

"Well, you're probably here to stay for the night, I assume. Are you in need for a spare bed or are all of the spare beds unfortunately and completely coincidentally taken?"

She laughed mischieveously and Bai Yutong grew to like the perceptive young woman even more. He couldn't help but laugh a bit himself.

"You're pretty good. Ever thought about switching your job to become a detective?"

He asked playfully, making her laugh even more.

She shook her head and replied seemingly serious.

"Unfortunately, I can't see blood so I don't think I would be suited for the job."

She sighed and shook her head regretfully.

They reached Zhan Yao's room and entered, making Zhan Yao look at them surprisedly. He was in the middle of reading one of his books he got Bai Jintang to bring him along with some other stuff he would need during his stay in the hospital. Said man was sitting on the chair beside Zhan Yao's bed and busyly typing away on his cell phone, barely recognizing Bai Yutong's arrival with some kind of incoherent mumble that was meant to be a greeting. Bai Yutong raised a questioning brow at his brother's weird behaviour.

"Bai Yutong? What are you doing here? Visiting hours are almost over."

Zhan Yao said, eyeing the big sports bag in Bai Yutong's hand suspiciously. Yutong looked at him, offended.

"You really thought I would let you spend the entire night by yourself?"

He questioned with a tint of anger evident in his voice. Zhan Yao was about to talk back but the on Bai Yutong's face made him stop. He knew that expression on his partner's face. No matter what he said, Bai Yutong would remain stubborn. He sighed.

"Fine. Could we please have a spare bed then?"

He asked the nurse who had busyly checked up on everything for the night and now turned to take Zhan Yao's temperature one last time for the day.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. But we don't have that many spare beds as it is normally against regulations to stay over the night. Right now, all of them are occupied. I'm very sorry. But I'm sure it will be fine. You managed to sleep on one bed without trouble the other night, so it should be fine."

She said enthusiastically and Bai Yutong had trouble to hold back his laughter about her act and the faked pity about not being abe to provide a spare bed.

The look on Zhan Yao's face was hilarious. It was a mixture of disbelief, embarrassment and despair.

Bai Jintang, who had ripped his eyes off of his phone's screen to look at the spectacle unfolding in front of him, caught on to the situation quickly. He minded Bai Yutong with a look that meant as much as 'are you serious?' and 'don't tease the poor kid too much'. Bai Yutong just shrugged.

Before the flustered cat could speak out his refusal and send him home again, Bai Yutong intercepted quickly and turned towards the nurse with a wicked smile.

"That's unfortunate. But it's fine, thank you very much. We'll be fine like this."

The nurse nodded in understanding and apologized once more for the 'inconvenience'. And then, she left, reminding Bai Jintang that visiting hours are over and asking him to please leave.

The older Bai brother just nodded and rised fom his chair to get ready to leave. He said his goodbye's to the still confused Zhan Yao - who resembled more of a lost kitten right now - and made his way out of the room. He almost pitied Xiao Zhan, but the two brother's were pretty alike in treating their lovers so he didn't feel the need to safe him from his awkward situation.

Bai Yutong was the first to take action by placing his bag on the chair next to the bed. In one swift movement, he ridded himself off his jacket first, followed by his shirt - forcefully ripping Zhan Yao out of his trance.

"W-Wh-Wha-What are you doing?!"

He screeched and his face flushed red immediately. He wanted to cover his eyes but his glance was refusing to move from Yutong's exposed muscular upper body. Bai Yutong smirked.

"Undressing. We're going to sleep together."

He said calmly, purposely using misleading words. He slowly reached out to his belt and opened it slowly - enjoying Zhan Yao's flustered reaction who could still not force himself to look away. By now, even his ears and neck turned a crimson red. Yutong opened his trousers' button provokingly and finally got Zhan Yao to explode.

"W-Wh-Who is going to sleep with you?! We can't do that here!"

He exclaimed, embarrassed. Bai Yutong was a little surprised by the second sentence. He raised one of his brows in mockery.

"So it's fine, as long as it's not here?"

He questioned and slowly pulled down his pants. Zhan Yao hastily averted his eyes, his breathing quickened. When Yutong suddenly was right next to him, he squeezed his eyes shut closely and turned his face away. Without realizing, he held his breath.

"Well, let's get you ready."

Bai Yutong whispered in his ear, playfully blowing inside it, and finally leaned over Zhan Yao's tensed body.
