Chapter 11

As soon as he recognized the other person Zhan Yao stared at Bai Yutong in disbelief.

Zhan Yao stared at the both silently. Not that he had much of a choice because of the voice-muting collar around his neck.

But even without the collar on, he would have still not said a word. He simply wouldn't know what.

This combination was simply too strange.

Bai Yutong dismissed the guards who luckily didn't know Zhao Jue since they were newly recruited and sighed.

He could feel Zhan Yao's eyes on him.

"He said it would be better to discuss the case together so I brought him along. It was one of his conditions for cooperating without going too far or interfering with the police."

Zhan Yao noticed the obvious sullenness in Bai Yutong's words and gave him an apologetic look. He knew how much the mouse was against it.

While the two had their silent conversation, Zhao Jue observed them carefully.

It fascinated him how much in synch they were and how much they trusted and supported each other.

He was also really pleased with the outcome of his and Bai Yutong's discussion.

He had wanted to test Bai Yutong's limits for a long time already and even if the situation was not what he wished for, he was still happy for the opportunities it gave him.

Bai Yutong quickly opened the cell and removed the collar on Zhan Yao's neck which gave Zhao Jue a good view on his neck. On the pale white skin, Bai Yutong's kissing marks stood out even more prominently.

Zhao Jue didn't say anything about it but couldn't hold back a little smirk.

"It's been a while, Professor Zhan."

"Zhao Jue."

Zhan Yao greeted him back simply.

"Firstly I want to apologize in what kind of situation I brought you. That was not my intention."

"You didn't calculate that something like this might happen?"

"No. Not everything can be calculated. I thought there might be some people who wouldn't like me around but I never imagined them to go this far. I'm sorry I got even you involved because of this."

"Then how about giving me the reason. I think I deserve at leat this much for being dragged into your affairs and be confined here as a result. Why do those people think they can hold something against you if they harm me?"

Bai Yutong looked from one to the other. It was like watching a tennis match.

The battle of words between two geniuses.

And Zhan Yao had decided to not hold back in his attacks.

Zhao Jue didn't reply immediately.

"You'll find out eventually. I can't tell you right now. It's more important to focus on the case for the time being."

They looked each other in the eyes for a while.

"Fine then."

Zhan Yao knew he wouldn't get anything  out of him now.

Right now, they really should focus on the case first. He didn't particularly like staying here. Especially because he knew Bai Yutong had to return to an empty apartement.
