He didn't need any comforting words. Especially not from him.
What now?
Zhan Yao had meanwhile succeeded to somehow get the tape off of his face through vigurous headshaking and stretching his face. He must have looked ridiculous but he didn't care. Though he was a little surprised he hadn't been stopped in his efforts to get off the tape from his mouth. Maybe they had planned to take it off later on anyway and laughed on the other side of the screen?
Zhan Yao sat quietly and wondered if his kidnappers had already contacted Zhao Jue and made demands.
No matter if that was the case or not he had no intention to sit idely and not make out his own plan to escape. He wouldn't just depend on other people and let himself be rescued by Bai Yutong who would definetely risk his life to get him out of here.
Once Bai Yutong crossed his mind, it was almost impossible to get him out again. How was he feeling right now? He probably wouldn't rest until he had found and rescued him successfully. Knowing him, he was probably even baming himself for the whole situation. That kind of personality-trait of him had always annoyed Zhan Yao.
When he was almost about to drift off to more thoughts about his mouse, he forced himself to snap out of it and concentrate on making a plan.
But since he didn't have much information his possibilities were limited. The only way to form a more or less safe plan of escape was to get more information. For that, he would have to talk to one of the people here. He would prefer the mob boss, of course, since he had the most information. But Zhan Yao had already noticed at their first encounter that he was not that stupid and easily manipulated. So someone else would probably be better.
He wasn't worried he wouldn't be able to get something out of David but it would simply take too much time. His escape was all about time since he wasn't strong enough to fight off a bunch of gang members when they caught wind of his attempt to escape. So he had to escape quickly and mostly unnoticed.
Therefore his perfect target was someone high enough the ranks so he would have useful information but still weak-willed. Someone like Xiao Yun for example. He had been easy to provoke from the very beginning and was short-tempered but also seemed to be a close follower of David.
Zhan Yao licked his dry lips. Should he wait for them to come to him or make them come to him on their own?
It would be more in his favour to make it seem like he didn't care about his situation but the idea of Bai Yutong who was probably either pacing through the office and giving the SCI team hell or pressuring them by sitting in his chair unmovingly made him feel really restless.
He knew full well how uncomfortable it was to be around Yutong when he was in that kind of mood.
Or maybe not. Not completely at least.
After all, Bai Yutong's fury was never taken out on him and he had never been present at the times Yutong had been truly angry. The times when something happened to him.
Just when another dry cough escaped his lips the door flung open and Xiao Yun entered the room. On his own.
Zhan Yao raised his brows at him but remained silent.
"Boss told me to bring you water."
He said lazyly and let himself fall on the chair David had sat on earlier, holding a waterbottle in his hands.
Zhan Yao still remained silent. His eyes darted to the camera shortly. The red light was still on - as expected.
The lack of reaction from Zhan Yao confused Xiao Yun. He had thought the professor would talk once he got the chance to but the person in front of him just minded him with an unconcerned gaze and kept quiet.
