"I'll go visit Zhao Jue."

Bai Yutong didn't trust him. But even then he would go see him since he was involved in this whole thing. And he also couldn't deny that Zhao Jue somehow cared about Zhan Yao as well.
It won't hurt to be cautious around him, though.

He walked towards the door of the art gallery and opened it. It wasn't locked.

He stepped inside and was greeted with the same smell of paint like the past visits.

A small girl with pigtails walked towards him. She was still young, maybe around eight years old.

Bai Yutong remembered the girl. She had greeted them when they first visited this place as well. Her name was Wendy.

"Teacher is already waiting for you upstairs."

He made a disgruntled sound. That man actually dared to use a little girl he hypnotized right in front of him to call him upstairs. It was nothing less but an arrogant provocation.

Nonetheless, he climbed up the stairs and almost did not notice Zhao Jue because he sat infront of a canvas he was working on.

Bai Yutong couldn't see what he was drawing but he wasn't even particularliy interested anyway.

"You came."

Zhao Jue sounded as calm as always. As if he had control over everything and knew everything.
Bai Yutong got irritated.

"No need to get so worked up. Come over here, I'm almost finished. Would you like some coffee?"

He actually has the nerves to idly draw his paintings and drink coffee while Zhan Yao stayed in prison because of him.

Now, Bai Yutong was truly aggriviated. But he tried to calm his anger and his voice was steady and strong as he spoke but still let the other man know about his hostility.

"No need. I don't drink coffee."

He walked around the canvas and saw Zhao Jue smile.

"Zhan Yao also does not drink coffee but I doubt  you don't drink it because of your weak stomach, right?"

Bai Yutong was bothered by the familiarity Zhao Jue used to talk about Zhan Yao.

He gnashed his teeth and ignored the remark.

Zhao Jue studied his work of art.

"What do you think?"

Uninterested, Bai Yutong turned to look at the painting and his anger flared up again immediately.

"Bastard!"

It was a painting of Zhan Yao.

"You are indeed hot-blooded, just like your father when he was young. But he changed now. He's become slow and timid. It doesn't feel right somehow."

Bai Yutong almost did not listen to anything he said. His anger just rose by any second he stared at the picture.

"Why are you so interested in him?"

He finally barked and looked him straight in the eyes. Any normal person would cower in fear under Bai Yutong's murderous stare.

Zhao Jue, however, was no ordinary person. He calmly held eye-contact and looked at him interestedly - almost in awe.

"I can see why Zhan Yao cares about you so much. You truly are special. The two of you make a good pair."

"That was not my question and it isn't any of your business either. You should stay away from Zhan Yao. He is in that kind of situation only because of you."

Bai Yutong decided to drop the formalities and courtesy and just speak clearly.

He had enough of Zhao Jue's games.

"Not everything in life will go as we wish. There will always be obstacles. I also am regretful how this situation turned out. I ask you to believe me when I say I didn't wish for Zhan Yao to go to these lenghts."

"...Fine. Let's just say what you said is right. What do you intend to do about it then? Knowing you, you wouldn't just sit by idly."

Bai Yutong gave in. He could argue with that man for the whole day but that wouldn't lead him to anywhere. His only goal right now was to get Zhan Yao out of there.

For that very goal he would set his grudges towards this man aside.

Zhao Jue smiled softly and couldn't help but be a little amused by Bai Yutong's behaviour. He was an outstanding and righteous policeman but he seemed like a devoted puppy when it came to Zhan Yao.

It made Zhao Jue wonder just how far he was willing to go for him.

"Of course not. I will fully cooperate with you. I am the same as you. I don't wish for Zhan Yao to be in danger."

Yutong's expression darkened.

"Then what is it that you want? Why do you keep approaching Zhan Yao?"

Zhao Jue smiled mysteriously but did not answer. Instead he stood up and grabbed a mug from the table next to him.

"Here, it's hot chocolate. I prepared it because I thought you wouldn't like coffee."

Bai Yutong returned to the office in a sour mood.

The meeting didn't go as he wished.

But at least he got some more information from Zhao Jue and the man also said he would cooperate.

The only thing was, Bai Yutong didn't know if he liked the idea. He didn't know what Zhao Jue's definition of cooperation was.

"Bai Chi! Report!"

He let himself fall into the chair and Bai Chi quickly gathered his files and stumbled his way towards him to give Bai Yutong the documents.

"So there's not much new information."

Bai Yutong concluded.

"Y-Ye-Yes Sir. But there should be more information once Ma Han and the others return."

The brave child tried to appease the fuming captain.

He was really nervous. If only Zhan Yao was here it would be much easier to talk to him.

He definetely must work his hardest in order to bring him back.

A few kilometers away from the city Zhan Yao was bored out of his mind.

Where was Bai Yutong?

Hopefully he would have new information on the criminal organization.

Zhan Yao waited impatiently.

After another half an hour he started to get irritated. What took him so long? It was unlike Yutong to keep him waiting.

Ok, no, that was not true but he at least always came on time since he was in prison.

Except that one time he ran late because he got Zhan Yao his ring.

After a couple more minutes the door finally opened and Zhan Yao looked in the direction expectantly.

Bai Yutong came in with a complicated expression which immediately worried and confused Zhan Yao.

The confusion grew even more when he saw one more person enter the room.

As soon as he recognized the other person Zhan Yao stared at Bai Yutong in disbelief.
