"Hold him. We've got to make this quick."
Bai Yutong sprinted through the corridors. Sweat was running down his whole body and he could feel his limbs turn cold from fear. Only one thought kept replaying in his mind.
Zhan Yao.
He didn't even dare to imagine what could have happened to him. If he did, he feared he would not be able to keep on running. So he just ran towards his cell in an inhuman speed, hoping he would be on time.
He could already see from afar that the door had been forcefully opened and increased his pace once more.
But the cell was empty.
Except for the two unconscious guards on the ground, there was no other person in the room.
"F*CK!!!"
Despite his full-speed marathon, Bai Yutong still found the strenght to curse. He anxiously ran his hand through his damp hair and looked around. A small object on the floor admidst the chaos caught his eye. An empty syringe.
He could feel his blood turn cold.
Had they drugged him?!
The panic rising inside of him threatened to overwhelm him and he had to force himself to take deep breaths to regain his composure.
Once he was a little bit more clear in the head, he quickly exited the cell and ran out of the building.
If they had really drugged Zhan Yao then it should be difficult to leave quickly. The cat might be delicate and not that heavy but he was still a grown man.
He looked around but couldn't find anything suspicious or something that could lead him to Zhan Yao's whereabouts. He continued searching the whole area but couldn't find anything.
Frustrated by the results, he checked his phone. As soon as he knocked out the fake guard he called Bao Sir and the SCI for reinforcements and also told them to shut off all the roads.
But this prison was very far away from any city.
Did he come too late after all?
Unwilling to give up, he returneed to the fake guard and wanted to shake him awake when he noticed blood. The guy was dead. And so was Bai Yutong's last hope to find out anything about Zhan Yao's whereabouts.
ΨΨΨ
His head hanging low from guilt, Bai Yutong slumped down in his chair further.
They didn't find any clues at all except for some short surveillance videos which were completely useless because all the people it caught were wearing masks.
Zhan Yao also didn't leave anything behind - which was unlike him. In such a situation he would always leave some kind of clue behind, but he didn't. Only the voice-muting collar had remained in the cell. They must have really taken him by surprise.
The biggest clue they got was lying on the dissection table in Gongsun's autopsy room.
Everyone in SCI was really busy, even Bai Yutong's brother came to support them and contacted several people to find out more information about Zhan Yao's abduction.
Still on the phone, Bai Jintang gave the disspirited Bai Yutong an ucertain look. He had never seen him act like that.
He ended his call and sighed. The man approached his devasted brother with careful steps - wary of Bai Yutong's condition and the kind of reaction he would have if caught by surprise.
