Chapter 4

Bai Yutong had removed his collar.

Momentarily Zhan Yao lost control over his facial expression. He stared at Yutong shocked - unsure what he was planning. Zhan Yao was utterly confused by Bai Yutong's actions.

"Say it. Tell me everything. After all you finally get a chance. And me too. I was trying so hard to get you to talk but you never did. So, let's hear what you have to say."

Zhan Yao was still confused. But he couldn't stop now.

"There's nothing to say."

His voice sounded foreign in his ears.

"Everything I wanted to tell you was on those papers. There's nothing to add to that."

Zhan Yao continued nevertheless.

Suddenly aware of the proximity again, Zhan Yao pushed Bai Yutong away and stepped in the middle of the cell.

"Prove it."

Bai Yutong turned towards him.

"After all I'm a policeman. I need evidence."

His expression was calm but it seemed to Zhan Yao like he was making fun of him.

"What more evidence do you need? I already said everything clear-"

"You didn't."

Bai Yutong interrupted him.

"You only wrote it down. Tell it to me clearly. Look me in the eyes and say it."

Zhan Yao almost choked. He really didn't want to say it. In that moment he was actually even thankful he had to wear the collar. But Bai Yutong took that relief away from him - forcing him to face him directly.

"I don't love you."

Silence.

Bai Yutong didn't believe him. Even though Zhan Yao wore a straight face, he noticed the small moment of hesitation and the slight tremble in his voice.

Zhan Yao noticed the disbelieve in Yutong's eyes and internally cursed the man but also himself.

Bai Yutong approached him again and for some reason Zhan Yao didn't avoid him. He couldn't. It was as if he was spellbound by Bai Yutong's eyes.

Too late, he realized Bai Yutong's hands on his hips that pulled him closer. When he tried to pull away, Bai Yutong's lips already found his in a deep longing kiss.

Zhan Yao was too flustered to react. They hadn't kissed in a long while and he only realized now, just how much he missed it. He already was about to give in to the kiss when he remembered his motive.

Quickly he struggled out of Bai Yutong's firm embrace who was unwilling to part with him. They hadn't kissed since Zhan Yao got arrested. And it had been even longer since they had been truly intimate.

Bai Yutong was just a man. It was natural he would be frustrated. Especially since his boyfriend was a stubborn cat who refused to tell him the truth. For whatever reason.

But Bai Yutong was good at waiting. He had lots of trainig in that area since his cat was a pretty shy person.

Slap.

"...You know I like it when you get a little feisty, but aren't you taking it a little too far?"

Bai Yutong rubbed his cheek and teased Yao with a playful tone.
