Chapter 8

From now on Zhan Yao would surely rely on him more and they could find a solution together.

They didn't do much afterwards. Just enjoying the other's presence and occassionally kissing a little.

Normally Bai Yutong would have wanted to go further, especially now that Zhan Yao wasn't hiding anything from him anymore. But he hadn't exactly forgiven him just yet. He would definetely teach him a lesson next time. Just not now.

Zhan Yao was still not completely well since he just collapsed.

However, there were still lots of unanswered questions inside Bai Yutong's head. He might have a rough overview but there were still many things he didn't know about yet.

But he didn't want to ruin the current atmosphere so he kept his mouth shut and the questions to himself.

He would just ask Bao Sir later. He still had a few words to say to the man as well.

For now he would just fully enjoy his quality time with his boyfriend though.

He really missed his cat and even their silly bickering. Yutong was very lonely without him and the apartement also felt too big for just himself.

He sighed.

Zhan Yao, who had been busy stroking his hair as Bai Yutong layed on his lap, stopped in his movements.

"What's wrong?"

Bai Yutong didn't answer immediately. He knew they would most likely start talking about the case if he said it.

"Just wondering when you will come back."

An awkward silence formed inside the room.

Zhan Yao resumed his former activity and also sighed.

"I don't know. The situation is complicated. That's also why I didn't want to involve you this time. The people we're up to against this time..."

Zhan Yao broke off. He didn't know how to explain and where to start.

Bai Yutong noticed and reassuringly took hold of his hand.

The small gesture calmed Zhan Yao down. But even then, he knew Bai Yutong wouldn't like what he was about to hear now.

"They're some kind of criminal organisation. We don't have full information yet but they're really the worst. And they seem to hold something against... him. I'm not entirely sure but I think they consider him a threat and want to get rid of him before he gains more influence in Hongkong. For that, they won't stop in using any method."

Bai Yutong couldn't follow Zhan Yao completely. Him? Who did he mean?

He sat up confused, Zhan Yao's hand slid down from his head. With Bai Yutong gone, his lap felt cold.

Yutong looked at him and when seeing the expression on Zhan Yao's face he suddenly understood.

"Zhao Jue."

He said sourely. His expression immediately darkened.

"But that's got nothing to do with you! Why do you have to pretend to go to prison when they are after him?! And you didn't even tell me!"

Bai Yutong was clearly upset. The betrayal was still not forgotten. Not to mention that his mood would always turn somewhat grumpy as long as that man was mentioned.

He was simply too interested in Zhan Yao for his taste.

It's logical that his protective instincts would kick in if some strange person, a criminal no less, had some kind of questionable interest in his cat and kept approaching him.
