The man was so aggrieved by Zhan Yao's behaviour he was about to hit him, when the door suddenly opened once more.
"Well well now, Xiao Yun, don't behave childishly in front of our guest like this. He'll think I didn't teach you any manners."
Even though the man's tone who entered the room just now was calm and friendly, Zhan Yao didn't miss the sharp glare and the underlying meaning in his words towards Xiao Yun.
Zhan Yao studied the man further. He should be about his mid-thirties but he still looked young and had a fit built. Somehow, he reminded Zhan Yao of a snake with his squinted eyes and the strangely dyed blonde hair.
"You have to pardon his behaviour, Professor Zhan, he's still young and hot-blooded. But I promise it won't happen again."
The last phrase was actually directed mostly towards Xiao Yun. It was a silent warning to not overstep his boundaries again from now on.
Xiao Yun averted his eyes, ashamed to have been scolded right in front of someone else but also still angry.
Zhan Yao just remained emotionless on the outside. His pokerface was perfect and Xiao Yun's boss was momentarily confused by his calmness and unreadable face. His confusion quickly turned into nervousness when Zhan Yao continued to just stare at him, not even blinking. It felt like he could see right through him.
"W-Well. I apologize for the late introduction, my name is David. I'm the boss of RedFangs. You probably know why we brought you here, right?"
But to his surprise, Zhan Yao just tilted his head as if he didn't have a clue.
Of course in reality he did know why he was here. But it wouldn't hurt to hear it from the boss directly, would it? Maybe he would even get some new information. Especially as to why they thought of Zhao Jue as a threat big enough to go to such lenghts.
"Oh? You don't? Well, that's a surprise but let me explain it to you."
David made a gesture with his hand and Xiao Yun quickly brought him a chair. Now he and Zhan Yao sat opposite each other.
He took some time to sort out his thoughts. It was impossible for the professor not to know why he was here. Especially since they even went as far as to throw him in jail to ensure the professor's safety. A pretty bold and smart move in his opinion.
Saying that he didn't have a clue was obviously a lie to trick him into saying something he really doesn't know yet.
So what to do now? He didn't know how much he knew already.
"Do you happen to know a man named Zhao Jue?"
Zhan Yao looked at him but remained silent.
The man wasn't stupid. He tried to only give little information. Of course that would be better accomplished by asking Zhan Yao what he knew directly but the mob boss knew of Zhan Yao's extraordinary skills and wasn't going to test them on himself.
So the tape remained where it was.
Finally, Zhan Yao gave a nod.
"Well, you see, it happens we don't quite welcome him in this city but he doesn't have any intention to leave so we'll have to make him leave by different means."
Zhan Yao raised his eyebrow to signal he didn't understand what that has to do with him. Well, actually he really didn't know. He never understood why Zhao Jue kept on approaching him.
Would the mob boss actually know something he didn't?
