Only a few months later, Elizabeth found herself getting ready for a tiny ceremony that would make Bucky officially her husband. She wore a beautiful baby blue dress with white heels, and Bucky wore a Wakandan outfit specifically made for him and his one arm.
Steve and the rest of the team all were a part of a conference video for the wedding as they couldn't actually be there for it.
It was a small and quiet ceremony, with almost none in attendance other than T'Challa, Shuri, and a few others. The celebration afterwards consisted of a toast given by T'Challa and then a private meal for just the two newlyweds.
As they relaxed on a small bench just outside the door of their newly-finished home after the wedding, Elizabeth found herself in the happiest place on earth, in the arms of her new husband.
His hand was in her hair while she lay with her back to his chest as they watched the sunset. Elizabeth closed her eyes for a brief second when Bucky spoke.
"You know, I've always wanted to farm," he whispered.
Elizabeth gave a small chuckle.
"Really?" She asked, looking up at him. "I always thought you would want to work in a city." Bucky pursed his lips.
"A lot has changed for me since then, Lizzie. I'd like to try and live quietly for the rest of my life. I still need time to think and to come to terms with myself over everything that's happened these past few years," Bucky said, stroking Elizabeth's hair gently before placing a kiss on her forehead.
She sat there in silence for a moment, deep in thought as the sun sunk low to the ground before disappearing beyond the rolling hills.
"I don't think I would mind that kind of life too much, but I want to heal and help people. If I could even help one person, that would help me to heal too," she said.
"Good. It's settled then. We'll use the land for farming and we'll build a shed for you to practice your medicine and healing," Bucky trailed off before looking down at her mischievously. "Mrs. Barnes."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes and pushed herself up off of the bench and turned to face Bucky.
"Now, Mr. Barnes, it's Dr. Barnes to you," she said taking Bucky's hand in her own and pulling him up off of the bench. He pulled her close, wrapping his arm around her waist and gently began to take her inside their new home.
"And you can call me Sergeant Barnes, Doctor," he whispered, beginning to kiss her neck as the door shut behind them.

Time passed and the two of them had fallen into a comfortable routine, of working in the fields and helping their neighbors.
Even when nightmares sometimes found their way back into their minds, Bucky and Elizabeth cared for each other and were able to begin to find peace.
Elizabeth also helped Shuri with some repairs, and allowed Shuri to examine Elizabeth to discover what her powers were capable of. The two women grew close, and Elizabeth was glad to have someone else around.
One morning, Elizabeth woke up her body aching with nausea, and she quickly ran to the bathroom, her body rejecting any food or drink from the previous night. She sat there for a minute, unused to the strange and uncomfortable sensation before there was a knock at the door.
