"No, listen, you were the one who asked me to dance!" Bucky said.

"Absolutely not! You asked me, so I politely accepted," Elizabeth exclaimed, crossing her arms across her chest in indignation.

They were both leaning against the island discussing a memory that they had together of a family get together from the forties. Bucky rolled his eyes and walked around the island to where they had purchased a small radio and he flipped it on, tuning it to a station that had old jazz tunes. Bucky reached his hand out to her, causing her to laugh as she took it. He spun her towards him and he wrapped an arm around her waist.

"See, doll, that was me asking you to dance," he whispered in her ear while they danced slowly together.

Elizabeth closed her eyes, pressing her head into his chest. She enjoyed the little moments like this that took her back to better times. Before Hydra, life had been a whole lot simpler, and she relished in the moments where the simple life could be recreated.

"What are you thinking about, Lizzie?" Bucky asked after a few moments of them silently slow dancing to the music playing quietly on the stereo.

"Better times," she replied. She looked up at Bucky's face as he gazed down into her eyes. She subconsciously licked her lips, and before she realized what was happening, she stood up on her tip-toes and pressed her lips gently against Bucky's.

Her warm lips stunned Bucky for a moment until he remembered to kiss back, finding immense happiness in kissing her. They broke apart just as the song was wrapping up. Elizabeth could feel herself blushing, and she looked to see that he had a faint smile on his face.

Before Elizabeth could open her mouth to say something to Bucky, over the radio, the announcer was making a breaking news report announcing the death of none other than Peggy Carter.

"Oh, Steve," Elizabeth whispered, still holding onto Bucky's arms. She felt him pull her in closer, afraid to let her go. Her heart was torn in half. She knew how much Peggy had meant to Steve, and Elizabeth knew in particular how much it had helped him to visit her.

While Elizabeth had met her a few times, the memories were faint and fuzzy still. She just knew that after the ice, Peggy had been there for Steve.

"Lizzie," Bucky's voice snapped her back to the present. "Did you hear anything I just said?"

Elizabeth shook her head.

"I asked if you were okay," he said, taking her chin in his flesh hand and pulling it up so that she was looking at him.

"Yeah, I'm okay. I didn't know her well, I just-" she trailed off, her mind wandering to Steve. She knew that she had hurt him by leaving, and now she knew that he had no one outside of his team.

"Steve's always been strong, Lizzie," he said.

" I know, I just wish I could be there for him," she said, tracing a pattern on Bucky's metal arm. "But I don't want to leave you. Not when you and I are still figuring this out."

Bucky moves his flesh hand to where her hand was tracing patterns and stopped it. He gave it a gentle squeeze before stepping back from her.

"I can wait until you get back," he said. "Go, help Steve. He helped both of us, and now he needs you," Bucky said.

"Are you sure?" Elizabeth asked. Bucky nodded.

"As long as you promise to come back," he said. Elizabeth nodded, and he leaned down, kissing her again before they stepped back.

Elizabeth was going to London.
