A knock on the door woke Elizabeth up from a deep sleep. She found herself still on the couch, wrapped up in Bucky's arm. She sat up quickly, looking down at where Bucky was also awake.

"Mr. Barnes, Dr. Rogers, it is time for you to come to the lab," a voice came from the door.

Elizabeth stood, stretching out her muscles and watching as Bucky did the same. The two of them left the room together, following the person to the door. They were taken in a ship to the lab, where they were met by Shuri, T'Challa, Steve, and a few technicians, who got to work straight away on taking their vitals and preparing them for cryofreeze.

Elizabeth looked over to where Steve was speaking with Bucky and smiled. She knew that it would be difficult for Steve at first, but that he would be able to see them soon. He then approached Elizabeth and pulled her in tightly, not wanting to see his sister frozen.

"I'll be okay, Steve. They'll figure it out soon. I'm sure of it," Elizabeth said as he pulled back from the hug.

"I know. But are you sure you want to do this?" He asked.

"Yes, Steve. I'm sure," she said.

Steve nodded and watched as both his best friend and his sister stood and approached the cryofreeze chambers. Elizabeth looked to Bucky and smiled, taking his hand and giving it a gentle squeeze.

"I'll see you on the other side, doll," he whispered.

"Don't sleep too long," she said, a smile on her face as her hand slipped from his and they both stepped into the chamber. As the doors shut, she took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

Suddenly a rush of freezing cold came through her body before there was nothing but darkness, and Elizabeth and Bucky fell into a deep, deep sleep.

"What about Elizabeth? How long do you think it will take her to wake up out of it?"

"Not too much longer. Her body has just been slower at recovering than yours," a familiar voice fluttered above Elizabeth's head.

"Would you two please be quiet? She's moving," Another voice spoke.

"Come on, Lizzie, come back to me, doll," the first voice spoke again.

Elizabeth suddenly opened her eyes and found herself staring up into the beautiful eyes of none other than Bucky Barnes. His face was extraordinarily close to hers, and she had to push him back a little bit.

"Hi there," she said.

"Hey sis," Steve's voice came. His face appeared on the edge of her periphery.

"Hey, Steve," she said, beginning to try to sit up. She was still weak from the cryofreeze, but she was helped up by Bucky, who refused to leave her side.

"What happened?" She asked, noting his unusual clinginess.

"They woke me up three days ago," Bucky said. "They took both of us out of cryofreeze three days ago, but you weren't waking up."

Elizabeth bit her lip. "Sorry, I just do things a little slower than you do," she said.

"I can tell, doll," Bucky said, chuckling and pressing a light kiss to her cheek, before stepping back to allow Steve to see his sister.

Steve took a deep breath and wrapped his sister into a warm embrace.

"I wish I could stay, Lizzie," he said. "I just wanted to be here when you woke up to make sure that you're okay."

"It's alright, Steve. There's a whole other world out there that needs saving. Trust me, I know," Elizabeth replied, giving his hand a squeeze. Her brother placed his hand on her shoulder before turning and leaving the room.

"Come, now, Lizzie. There's so much you have to see," Bucky said. He helped her up from her bed and led her out the doors of the lab. They went down the stairs and out to a veranda that towered far away from the ground. Elizabeth's eyes widened at the beautiful sight before her.

"It's beautiful, Buck," she whispered.

"It is," he replied, wrapping his arm around her waist. He loosened it for a moment, pointing off to a tiny area of huts near a pond.

"It's so-" Elizabeth trailed off. "Peaceful."

"That's where we'll live," he said quietly.

"Us?"

"Yes, us," he said. "I had three days where I wasn't sure if you were going to wake up, and I had time to think. I didn't sleep, and I realized that I need you in my life, Lizzie. I spoke with T'Challa, and he will let us settle there if we would like. If you would like. Maybe we can even get a white picket fence around it. A kid. A dog. If you want?" Bucky looked down at her, his eyes hopeful.

Elizabeth looked up at him and smiled, her mind flashing back to a very fond memory.

"Say, doll, when all this is over, what do you think about getting a house together? A white picket fence, maybe a dog, or a couple of kids-" he trailed off when Elizabeth gasped, blushing fiercely.

"Bucky, could you imagine what your mother would say if we moved in together?"

"Well, doll, I'm assuming we would be married," Bucky said nonchalantly. Elizabeth gasped and stepped back from him, slapping his arm gently with her own.

"James Buchanan Barnes, is this your way of asking me to marry you?"

"No, no, doll, not yet. I have to ask you properly when all of this is over, but I just have to know if it would be something you would want," he said sheepishly. Elizabeth paused for a second, before bursting into a wide grin.

"Of course, Bucky. I want the white picket fence, the dog, the kids, and most importantly, I want you."

"Bucky, what are you saying?" Elizabeth asked quietly, turning to face him.

"I want you, Lizzie. If there's only one thing in my life that I have wanted, it's been you, and now that there's a chance to have you, with no fear of being hurt, with no fear of running, with no fear of my own mind, I know that I want you to be there. For everything. I woke up, and when they told me that my mind was freed from the brainwashing, I knew that I needed you immediately. Because I love you, Elizabeth Rogers. Completely and totally, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you if you'll have me?"

Elizabeth looked at Bucky, completely stunned, she was trying to find her words when he pulled a tiny metal ring from his pocket. He got down on one knee in front of her.

"It's vibranium. From my arm. They took it and fashioned it into a ring while you were sleeping. And I waited. I've waited nearly 100 years to ask you this," he whispered.

"Yes, Bucky. I love you too," Elizabeth replied finally, looking up into his eyes, her excitement evident across her entire face. She pulled him up and into a kiss as he quickly slid the ring onto her finger.

"So you're saying you'll marry me?"

"I'm saying I want the white picket fence, the dog, the kid, and you," Elizabeth said. "So yes, James Buchanan Barnes, I'm saying I'll marry you."
