Magnus was unconscious. Jonathan narrowed his eyes at Kit, approaching him with a slender knife.

"Alec, now!" Kit whispered urgently.

Alec nodded at him and shut his eyes, muttering an incantation under his breath. He pressed the right side of Magnus' neck as he said the spell, repeating the words over and over again.

Jonathan snarled and lunged at them, but Kit was ready. He blocked Jonathan's blow, but the impact was so bone-shattering that Kit trembled under the force. He was sent skidding across the floor, and Jonathan didn't even spare him a second glance.

Kit looked at Barnabas. He was cackling and driving his blade towards Simon, but Simon avoided him and rolled to the side, drawing his seraph blade. If Kit didn't act fast, this place was going to be a bloodbath soon.

Jonathan advanced on Alec.

Kit drew himself up again, pulling out the potion he had packed earlier. He threw it at Jonathan, watching the bottle and liquid shatter into a silvery, fine powder.

"What in Edom?" Jonathan turned and growled at Kit. He looked at the powder staining his expensive-looking suit-thing. Kit didn't know what it was called exactly, but it looked something like a suit-thing.

"Edom is a great place. Enjoy the return trip," said Kit, with a hint of savagery in his tone.

Jonathan screamed. No—it wasn't a scream. It was a howl of agony and pain and utter anguish. He clawed at his chest, screeching undecipherable words. Barnabas looked at him in shock, and everyone watched as Jonathan fell to the floor.

Then there was something like a Pop! and he was gone.

Barnabas turned to Kit, rage shining clearly in his eyes.

"You," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "You ruined it all."

But Magnus' eyelids had fluttered open, though his face was still deathly pale. Alec moved protectively in front of Kit. Acrimony stood fierce in his eyes. It was a storm raging inside, really. Roaring fast and furious, bits and pieces of his love for Magnus busy in turmoil. And, that was only his eyes. Kit shuddered and refused to think any further.

Alec could be terrifying when he wanted to be.

"And you," said Alec. "Nearly killed Magnus. You also abducted Clary in an attempt on her life, Emma and Izzy are bleeding to death on the floor thanks to you, Jace is destroyed, and you're bitching about how Kit sent Jonathan back to his hometown?"

Alec, was also savage.

Hale looked furious. "You don't know anything, Lightwood."

"He knows enough," said Magnus, still slumped on the floor, but comparatively better than earlier. "So, do I."

Blue sparks sprung from the tips of Magnus' fingertips, opening up a Portal. He pushed Barnabas, who hadn't had time to react yet, into the Portal. "That should do it," said Magnus. "I shoved him into somewhere safe. With wards."

Then Magnus muttered stuff under his breath, what Kit guessed was a spell, and Emma and Isabelle's wounds closed up. Some colour returned back to their faces, and Kit saw Julian and Simon visibly relax a little.

Kit immediately made his way towards Ty, who, though was significantly better, was still pale. And until he perfectly fine, Kit wasn't intending on leaving his side. He knelt beside Ty, drawing iratzes on Ty when he spoke:

"Did you mean everything?"

"What?" Kit drew the fifth iratze on Ty.

"Did you mean it? What you said about me? That I'm a freak and a weirdo?"

"God, no." Kit put the stele in his mouth, gently brushing his fingers over Ty's skin. "Why would I? It was just part of the plan. You're amazing, Tiberius Blackthorn." Kit leaned over, inhaling Ty's mild rosewood scent. He also smelt like steel. Kit kissed Ty's cheek. "Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

But Ty didn't smile. "You were right. I am a freak. I am weird. I am also a nerd and I can't be who you are. That sociable guy who can look people in the eye and doesn't freak out at crowds and loud noises. Maybe we just aren't compatible, Kit. Maybe this was all just a mistake."

"What? Ty, what's gotten into you? I don't need you to be sociable. I don't you to be me, or I might well have just cloned myself. Ty, I fell in love with you. I fell in love with your nerdiness and headphones and obsession with Sherlock Holmes. I don't need anything else, Ty, I just need you to be yourself," said Kit. "Just that."

"Enough," said Ty, standing up abruptly. He was weak, but he was still firm, despite his slight trembling. "I need a bit of time. I'll talk to you when we get back to the Institute, Kit."

Kit blocked out the exclamations of relief in the background. All he saw was Ty's retreating figure as Ty walked over to join Julian.

Whatever did I do wrong?
