"Dru!" Julian ran forward. "Oh, my baby sister, my baby Dru," he murmured.

Emma stood quietly at the side. She didn't know what to say; it had been like this when Livvy died and she didn't want to look at Ty's face. But she knew that Ty had Kit, so it should be fine.

Magnus leaned over. "Tell your boyfriend he can weep over her later. We need to get back to the LA Institute or I won't have the materials I need to heal Drusilla."

Emma sighed. She over to Julian, tapping his shoulder. He looked up at her and they shared a look. He nodded, knowing what she meant through the years of silent communication they had shared.

He stood up, Dru in his arms and kissed her forehead, saying something so quietly even Emma couldn't hear. From the shape of his lips, she could make out the few words "please... love you... die on me..." and knew she really shouldn't say anything to him.

She didn't make any move to touch him or comfort him, but she remained a comforting presence beside him at the Portal took shape in front of them.

Kit held Ty up throughout the entire harrowing situation. Ty looked like he was going to collapse at the sight of blood.

Dru's blood. Especially because it was Dru's blood.

The moment their feet touched Institute grounds, Ty had bolted for his room and locked it, slamming the door so loudly the sound echoed throughout the Institute. Currently, Kit was pounding on the door, fearful of what Ty would do left unattended. More self-harm?

Sure, Ty sounded like he was being treated like a toddler, but always better safe than sorry.

"Ty, what are you doing in there?" Kit yelled. "Open the door, or I'm going to use an Open rune!"

There was a muffled groan, then the door opened and Ty glared down at Kit. It was infuriating that he was taller. Kit needed to grow. Meanwhile, there were more important things at hand, like soothing Ty's anger because Ty looked like he was going to decapitate Kit any moment soon.

Which Kit realised with dismay was entirely possible.

"What do you want?" growled Ty. "Why'd you interrupt me?"

Kit began to squirm. It also seemed entirely possible that Ty was actually doing work and Kit had interrupted him with his incessant pounding. "I...." Kit struggled to come up with a legitimate excuse, which was not easy under Ty's piercing eyes.

"You what?" Ty's voice began to raise alarmingly, which was under no circumstances a good indication. It meant that he was perfectly capable of throat-slitting, limb-severing and—

"I wanted to go back down to the beach!" burst out Kit. He realised it was a good excuse with delight, and continued: "I wanted to go to the beach and I thought... do you want to come with me?"

Ty's expression softened. "Sure," he said, turning back into his room. "Just let me keep my things away and change. I'll meet you at the Institute gates in five minutes, okay?"

Kit nodded and strolled towards the gates, but in his heart, he was jumping up and down like an excited toddler.

Ty was extremely precise in his timing. In exactly five minutes, he was in a casual t-shirt and Bermuda shorts. Kit grinned, holding out his hand for Ty to take as they began to walk leisurely towards the beach.

They walked in comfortable silence for quite a while, before Ty broke it. "So, you wanted to talk to me?"

"I did," said Kit quite truthfully. "Do you sometimes feel that... maybe it would be easier if I got my memories back?"
