Later the day I encountered Ethan at the supermarket. It just happened Ethan was shopping too, coincidence?
“Hi, Daisy!” Ethan’s voice called out to me as I picked up an apple.
“Oh, hey, Ethan” I felt red to the cheeks. Wasn’t it weird that we made out and now it was like nothing happened, from one day to the next.
“What are you doing here?” Ethan asked walking in my direction.
“Obviously food shopping” I said walking away from him and pretending to search for good oranges.
“Is it for your aunt?” Ethan asked like he cared.
“Yea. Can I know what you want?” I asked putting a hand on my hip.
Ethan’s eyes flashed amusement. “Right to the point. Since when did you change so fast?” he asked.
I up an eyebrow up. “Oh, you wanna talk about change? Since when did you have it in you to be a school player?” I shot back.
“When you weren’t around” Ethan stated.
I walked to the check out counter and started loading my things on the moving balcony.
“What does me have to do with you changing?” I asked.
Ethan stood there like he was struggling whether or not to say what he need to say. I gave him a “yeah, I thought so” look.
“I thought I never would see you again once I left town. So you made me doubt love was actually real” Ethan spoke.
I looked at the clerk lady. She flashed me an amused look. Her look saying, “Is this boy for real?” .
I smiled at her. I know Ethan was being really weird.
I handed the lady my money and walked out of the store with my bags.
“Ethan stop playing dumb with me” I sighed walking down the street.
I could hear Ethan’s foot steps behind me hitting the pavement under his feet. He got a hold of my shoulder, turning me around, almost making me fall.
“I’m serious, Daisy Darwin!” Ethan’s eyes made me sober my smile. “As cheesy as it sounds: I’ve loved you since I laid eyes on you” Ethan’s eyes searched all signs of my next movement.
I stood there quiet, looking into his eyes. Did I just hear right? Ethan said he loved me?
Can someone please tell me when I bumped my head today!
I narrowed my eyes on his. “Your playing with my feelings?” It can out more like a question than a statement.
