"What's with the smile?" Carla asked during math class.

I tried to put my best straight face. "What smile?" I asked dumbly.

"The one you're trying to stash away" she replied with a smirk.

"Again... I don't understand" I said grabbing a notebook and pen out of my bag.

"Did something good happen between you two? Where you guys making out in the library?!" Carla almost screamed the last part and we received uninvited stares.

I slapped her arm. "NO! Shhhh!" I said in an outburst as the math teacher gave us a disappointed look. What? I said I did nothing!

"Well, tell me then!" Carla said with extreme curiosity.

"I have a date and that's it, Carla" I said drained with attention.

"O-M-G! That's great news! Ethan's changing for you!" Carla sang.

Again, we received stares, especially angry girl stares.

"What? No he's not. He's being a boyfriend, that's all"

"Exactly, my point! Ethan doesn't go with a girl for 1 and ½ weeks straight! And much less take you to dinner!" Carla gloated.

"Really? So how DOES it last?" I asked in a narrow tone.

I could see Carla's eyes that glowed shiny, shrink down to it's normal shine. "A day or three... why?"

I took in the information feeling my heart crack in places, leaving a seep of cold air. How many exactly had Ethan broken girl's hearts?

'I thought I never would see you again once I left town. So you made me doubt love was actually real'

Was I really at fault for Ethan's mistakes? Could I forgive him for what he did?

"Wear this one, Daisy!" Carla came to my house after school, for an hour in my closet and finally picked a dress she considered, 'Worth wooing Ethan over'.

It was a royal blue fabric colored dress. Made with short sleeves and a flowy bottom that stopped at my knees. Something that I chose to buy at my hometown mall.

"That looks so beautiful on you!" she roamed her eyes on the soft silky fabric.

"I hope this dress is alright for where he's taking me" I stated flatly.

Ethan's car smelled of him. It was strong but delightful. I could probably have a good night's sleep if I stayed here for the rest of my life.

Even though I was nervous of our first date, I couldn't help shake off disappointment and covetous.

"You okay?" Ethan asked rubbing my arm.

I stood silently looking at the grey road before us.

"Is there something wrong?" Ethan asked worriedly.

I couldn't shut down my mind in time as I blurted, "How many girls have you broken up with?"

Ethan dropped his free hand to the steering wheel and took a deep breath. "What makes you say that? Did a random girl tell you something?"

"Your phone not answering my question, Ethan" I stated with crossed arms.

"Fine. I don't know. I lost count after 25" he shrugged.

"More than 25?" I whispered in shock.

"I don't understand why it's bothering you, if you already knew I was a player, right?" he gave me a hopeless look.

"25?" I could only managed to say. Twenty-five hearts all broken with tears falling out hopelessly.. Twenty-five dates that probably had to do with physical interaction and endless flirting.

"I don't understand why you're asking me this. Are you having doubts about dating me?" he asked confused, while looking at the road ahead.

'Of course I am. I'm even having doubts on how I became your friend.'

"Do you ever think about feelings?" I asked a followup question.

"What do you mean?" Ethan asked turning into a parking lot attached to a building.

"Do you ever wonder if every girl you ended up with, is doing okay, today?" I asked with a heavy heart.

"Of course I do" Ethan nodded. "But, like everyone knows, if they end up with me, there eventually gonna be played"

My heart sank below negative.

"So, your playing with me?" I asked, threatened.

"What? No! I would never do that! I know you since I was like born. Why can't we just have a normal date? Just forget about this conversation and have an enjoyable night?" he pleaded with his eyes.

'Boys only want, what they can't have, Daisy'

"Fine, but we are talking about this conversation sooner or later!" I threw back.

I did in fact wanted to enjoy a date, but I couldn't shake a feeling of envy. What if Ethan was getting dangerously close to my heart? Would he break it into a billion glass pieces?
