Life after then wasn’t the same.
Ethan called, messaged even skyped. And I ignored them all. What was I gonna say?
‘Ethan! We were best friends so why couldn't you confide in me you had a girlfriend!? Your girlfriend and I could have been friends too!’
Just the thought was bone chilling. It would be awkward to be friend’s with your bestfriend’s girlfriend. And talk about what? How good Ethan was at kissing, making out, looking? Ehh… no.
After finding Ethan at the park, I stood home, Aunt Jade didn’t mind I’d skip school, just not the next week.. I was afraid I might see him anywhere else outside. And things would be… awkward.
Three days at home were fine. Awesome even. Me and Keith played board games with chess or scrabble. We’d bake and cook for dinner -even if they did come out a little burn- *cough* Keith fault *cough*.
Sometimes, we would just have a day filled with watching movies like my favorite ‘Blended’ a comical movie, me and Keith cracked up together. Or horror movies like ‘Insidious’ which I ‘did not get scared and burry my face in Keith’s shoulder’ -fine you caught me- *makes a face*.
On thursday, a day I missed school, around 3:00 pm, exactly when my school was out, there was a knock at the door.
I thought it was Molly coming from school, so I went to go open the door. I’d left Keith in the living room in the middle of our conversation about our different schools.
As soon as I opened the door, I was met with blue eyes. But they weren’t Molly’s.
“Ethan-”
“Why haven’t you answered my calls?” Ethan said angrily, making his way into my home.
I closed the door, so that the neighbors didn't hear this conversation and gossip.
“Um, I thought you got the hint that I didn’t ever want to talk to you again” I responded coldly.
Ethan’s eyes gave me a sting of pain as I saw that he was hurt by my response.
Ethan’s hands got to my elbows and pulled my closer to me. “No, Daisy. No! I want you to be my friend still!”
Ethan was scaring me as his eyes looking sad but his hands gripped me forcefully, like he couldn’t take the answer I gave him.
“I’m sure you wouldn’t have time for me anyways. You too busy with the other… girls” I deadpanned.
“But you’re my best friend. I always have time for you” Ethan tried his best to clarify. “You mad about the girl. I get it. She wasn’t an important person, I swear” Ethan was saying.
