seulgi feared for the fate of her coffee as she nearly collided with another customer as she turned to grab a sleeve for her drink. hands come up to steady her and seulgi looks up.
“i’m sorry, i didn’t see you there,” she says, sincerely apologetic.
“it’s okay!” the stranger’s voice rings a bell and her bright smile is giving seulgi pause. seulgi takes in the woman’s presence, unable to shake the feeling of familiarity this woman brings. her eyebrows knit together as she tries to place this woman.
wendy’s smile drops a little when she sees the woman in front of her looking pensive. it was clear as day to her that the woman was trying to figure out where she’d seen wendy before.
it wasn’t often that wendy was recognized in public. never before by a woman so this was exciting. it was flattering. and this woman was adorable. she kept blinking waded through her memories and wendy wanted to keep this stranger in her pocket.
mischievously, she fakes a pout and lingeringly pats the woman’s arms.
“i’m so sad. you know me but you don’t recognize me at all. wasn’t i memorable enough?”
seulgi’s eyebrows further furrow as guilt begins to well up. at least her initial suspicions were correct. she had met this woman before. but she didn’t want to upset this woman any further.
the stranger leans in a bit, the wide collar of her shirt suddenly showing a lot more of her shoulder. seulgi’s suddenly a bit more aware of everything. when the stranger speaks this time, there’s an added husk to her voice.
“or am i not showing enough skin?”
seulgi’s cheeks burn red in an instant as it finally clicks. she can feel her ears burning too, uncovered because she decided to tie her hair up in a bun today.
none of that matters when she almost spills her drink of both of them because her coffee is too hot for her sensitive hands. luckily she sets it down on the counter before that can happen. she takes a step back to shake out her hands, hissing at the pain.
wendy’s eyes widen at the sudden turn of events. her teasing smirk disappears and her caring nature kicks in at the sight of the girl in pain.
“are you okay? does it hurt? here!”
wendy shoves her own iced drink into seulgi’s hands and wraps her own hands around them to press seulgi’s heated skin against the cool surface. seulgi stutters, struggling to find any words. it was a lot to find out the woman she bumped into was a camgirl she has spent more than a few nights watching. then to have her drink burn her hands five seconds after that realization threw any possibility of seulgi recovering out the window. now the hot camgirl was holding her hands against her cold drink to make her feel better. the neurons in whichever part of the brain that controls speech are misfiring while her heart races a 100 miles per minute.
“are you okay? does it still hurt?” wendy repeats. the concern plastered on wendy’s face snaps seulgi out of it. well, enough to shake her head at woman holding her hands. “that’s good, that’s good.”
wendy lets go and grabs a few napkins from the counter. she pulls the drink out of seulgi’s hands and starts wiping them of the condensation from the drink.
“be more careful next time,” wendy’s eyes stray to the abandoned cup of coffee on the counter, “…seulgi.” wendy gives seulgi a bright smile and seulgi can only watch as wendy grabs a coffee sleeve and reaches over the counter to find a pen. things start to get surreal when she sees wendy start writing down what looks to be a phone number and seulgi starts to wonder if maybe she’s dreaming instead. but wendy slips the sleeve onto her coffee cup and hands it back to her. the warmth of the coffee in her hands is a clear sign that this is real life. wendy leaves with a melodious goodbye that rings in seulgi’s ears while her heart tries to settle down in her ribcage.
