John was letting Alexander stay the night for the first time since his mothers pass.

It may have been a while but John felt it would be best to wait until things calmed down a lot, though he knew they would never be the same.

They could never be the same.

John had Martha sitting on the kitchen counter as he cooked dinner.

Alexander was already there, sitting in the kitchen. He wished Martha would leave so he could just hold John.

He knew he couldn't tell him his feelings though he would still want to be sweet and nice to him.

As John was cooking, him and Martha were babbling about her day, when suddenly, she jumped off the counter.

"I've got to go pee pee!" She yelled as she scurried to the downstairs restroom.

Alex smiled and stood up as she left, sneaking his arms around John from the back, causing him to jump a bit.

"You scared me, Alex!" John gasped, stating how he was to finish making the cubed steak and mashed potatoes.

Alexander grinned and rested his chin on John's shoulder. "You're so sweet, he mumbled, moving his head to kiss at his neck, nuzzling into it.

John giggled a bit at the feeling. He couldn't help but feel all warm and fuzzy and in love as he did right then. He hadn't felt that in a while.

John shook his head at the comment. "You're so much sweeter." He whispered, turning off the stove but staying in his position.

Alexander kissed at his neck more before he heard Martha come rubbing back in. He immediately let go of John and went back to his seat, causing John to frown.

He didn't understand why he had to let go because of Martha. It wasn't like she would do anything.

Martha rushed in and hugged John's leg before he picked her up.

"Hey, baby. Do you want something to eat?" He asked, pulling her shirt down a bit.

Martha nodded and so did John, sitting her on the counter and cutting up some cubed steak for her, putting it on a plate and putting some mashed potatoes. He put her plate at the table and walked her over there, letting her get in her seat and handing her a Capri Sun.

"Alex, go ahead and get yourself a plate while I go get the boys." He told him before walking off.

Alex did so and soon John came down the stairs, his two brothers behind him.

John grabbed a plate for him and sat by Alexander, who took his hand under the table.

John bit his lip, though he let himself believe this was all just because they were sleeping together.

John couldn't believe Alex would ever have feelings for him, as much as he dreamed about it.

That's all Alex was.

A dream.
