"We should begin the preparations for the spell," Aunt Cassie said after a while. "How are we supposed to? Even if Melissa comes back, I am still a sister short," I said, crying. "I'm a sister; not your sister, but still a sister," Aunt Cassie said. "Do you think it will work?" I asked. "It should," Aunt Cassie said. "What do you think?" I asked Brian. "It's possible," he replied. "You should begin, I'll go get Melissa," Brian added. "Don't kidnap her," I said. "No, I will inform her of the situation—which you should have done before playing the video," he said, disappearing. "He's right," Aunt Cassie said. "Well, lay the blame on me. What else is new?" I said annoyed. "Come on, Octavia, I didn't mean to lay blame you," Aunt Cassie said. "I know, Aunt Cassie, I'm sorry," I replied. "Oh, it's okay, you've been through a lot," Aunt Cassie said.
We picked the necessary herbs from mom's herb garden. I didn't feel like doing anything anymore, but I had to be a hundred percent if I was going to avenge my mother. So, I pushed through my pain and went on with the potion's preparation. By the time we were done, Brian arrived with Melissa. "Are you okay?" I asked Melissa. "Yes," she said, hugging me. "I should've known; after all, your mom loved me so much. She even gave us the same gifts for our graduation," Melissa said.
"Yes, mom doted on you whenever you arrived, making me even feel jealous at times," I replied. "You were jealous of me? She kept you and not me," Melissa said. "I know, but she loved you nevertheless. Maybe even more than me," I said. "No, she doted on me because at the end of the day, I would leave, but you would stay," Melissa said. "Are we seriously going to argue about who she loved most when we have a soul seeker to destroy?" Aunt Cassie asked. "You're right, first things first," Melissa said. "But I'm not a witch; how can I help?" She asked. "Oh, you're a witch, alright. Your powers have only been bound; I can unbind them," Aunt Cassie said.
Aunt Cassie recited an Unbinding Spell, after which she asked Melissa to move a bowl with her mind, which she did. "Oh wow," Melissa shouted and turned to me all excited. "Did you see that, Octavia? I just moved that bowl with my mind!" she said. "You did," I said smiling. It made me so happy to see that my sister was like me. "Welcome to the family, kiddo," Aunt Cassie said. "Thank you, Aunt Cassie; now you are really my Aunt," she said smiling.
"Yes, it's a big happy family, but can we celebrate after the spell is done?" Brian said. "Yes, yes, first we need to finish this. So, how can I help?" Melissa asked. "Well, now the potion is done, except for the blood," Aunt Cassie said. "Blood, what blood?" Melissa asked. "We have to add some blood from the three of us into the potion," Aunt Cassie said. "Okay," I said, cutting my finger and pouring a few drops of blood into the bowl—after which Aunt Cassie and Melissa followed to do the same. We chanted the spell calling for the soul seeker. The soul seeker appeared and we chanted, "Soromenaz sorodaoz, soromenaz dremaniz."
The soul seeker then disappeared, hopefully forever. Afterwards, Melissa looked at Aunt Cassie and asked, "Do you think it's gone permanently?"
"I don't know," she replied. "Well, I am sleeping in your room today to make sure," Melissa said. "Me, too," Aunt Cassie said. "Really? I don't have a big enough bed to accommodate the both of you," I said. "No problem," Aunt Cassie said and chanted a spell, bringing her bed into my room. "Can I do that too?" Melissa asked. "No room for another bed in there," I said. "Okay then, we'll put the two beds together and sleep, like we could have when we were little," Melissa said.
"We did sleep together when we were little, occasionally, remember?" I asked. "Yes, but not with our Aunty," Melissa said, making Aunt Cassie tear up. "Aunt Cassie, are you crying?" I asked. "No, just tears of joy," Aunt Cassie said, hugging us both. "So, what about our third sister?" Melissa asked. "No clue, except for her parent's names," I said. "What were her parent's names?" Melissa asked, to which I replied. "I don't know them. Are they from here?" she asked. "For a short while, they were. They had moved to Paris when our sister was three years old," I replied. "What else? There must be something more on that video. We should watch it to the end," Melissa said. "Maybe later," I said. "Oh, I get it; it's hard to watch," she said. "Yes," I said, trying to spare her the pain of watching our mother's murder.
I went t sleep early as I had a long day. I was still awake when Melissa and Aunt Cassie joined in a few minutes later. Aunt Cassie moved her bed to join mine. I don't think I will be able to fall asleep today, Melissa said, lying down. "Why not?" I asked. "Too excited," she said smiling. We spent some time speaking until I fell asleep. I woke up to screams and sounds of an explosion. And then I noticed Melissa missing. I looked at Aunt Cassie, concerned. "What was that? Where is Melissa?" Aunt Cassie asked, looking at the empty space where Melissa lay.
