It looked like nothing I have seen before; the creature had a humanoid shape, with a huge body and thick horns. It bore large, orange eyes and its skin was turquoise-but what was more horrific than its looks was its smell; it reeked of rotten meat.
"The vanquishing spell, hurry!" I shouted, holding on to my sisters' hands as it came towards us. We chanted, hoping to send it away, but it didn't work; it held its ground, not moving an inch. We continued to chant, but it was to no avail. Aunt Cassie and Arya joined, too, but it was stronger than we expected.
"Let's try the asphyxiation spell!" I shouted. It didn't work either. We continued chanting for what felt like an eternity until we were able to subdue it. At last, we stood in front of an unconscious monster, wondering what we had just brought to the world.
We picked the creature up with great difficulty; it weighed a tonne. We tried to send it through the hole it crawled out, but to our dismay, the portal was shut. "What do we do; should we open the gateway again?" I asked. "I'm not sure," Anastasia said. "Then what about getting Mom back?" Arya asked. "We can't take any chances until we know what we are dealing with," Aunt Cassie said. "I agree; we need to solve this issue first," I said. "Let's put it in the cellar and check the grimoire for what it is and how to kill it," I said.
"It's a Longdragonz," Aunt Cassie said, looking in the grimoire. "What do we have on it?" I asked. "It states here that they very strong magical powers, and that there isn't a strong enough spell to vanquish it," Aunt Cassie said. "Then what do we do?" Melissa asked. "There's a weapon called the Breganzaz that was forged specifically to kill longdragonz, but there is an issue," Aunt Cassie said.
"What's the issue?" I asked. "The weapon isn't of this world; it's in the dark world of Nedezrinza," she replied. "Nedezrinza; is that where it came from?" Anastasia asked. "No, honey, it's another world, where it is safe from the monsters' hands," she replied.
"Just how Many dark worlds are there?" Melissa asked. "Oh, there are so many-too many, actually," she replied. "Okay, so how do we get there and retrieve the weapon?" I asked. "It's impossible; no living thing can go there," Aunt Cassie said. "Well, we have no option now, do we?" Anastasia asked. "I asked you not to try and conjure the dead, but did you listen?" Aunt Cassie said. "I get it, Aunt Cassie; you were right and we weren't; but right now, we have to find a way to solve the issue at hand," I replied.
"As it is asphyxiated, can't we kill it?" Anastasia asked. "Well, can we?" I asked. "No, not without the weapon," Aunt Cassie said. "I think we should at least try something," I said. "Maybe we could saw it into pieces," Arya said. "You can try, but according to the book, there is no weapon or spell in this world that could kill it," Aunt Cassie replied. "Well, let's try it, anyway," Melissa said.
We took a saw and went inside the cage. We tried dismembering it, but the saw shattered.
"What the hell is it made of?" Melissa asked. "It's like sawing into a slab of concrete," I said, annoyed. "I told you, you can't kill it without the weapon," Aunt Cassie said. "Well, how about we torch it?" I asked. "Why not?" Anastasia said. We used a blowtorch on it, but that didn't work either. I was frustrated-we all were.
"Could we perhaps freeze it?" Melissa asked. "That may just work," I said. "But it's so huge. How do we freeze it?" Anastasia asked. "We should wait until midnight and go to the butcher shop," I said. "Yes, there are walk-in freezers there," Aunt Cassie said. "Well, then, it's settled: we go at midnight," Anastasia said.
At midnight, we got it into our pickup truck and covered it with a large tarp to make sure no one sees it. We drove to the butcher shop and sneaked in and put the body in the freezer. We then sat there in the dark, waiting as time passed by so slowly.
We checked on it after a few hours, but it was still the same. "What do we do?" Melissa asked nervously. "Seems that there isn't much we can do except take it back home before the butcher comes to open the shop. Let's see where we go from there," I said.
It was a quarter to 4; our cue to leave as the shop opens at 4:00 am. We put the body back in the truck and drove home. But, when we go there-as we opened the door-what stood there before us left us petrified.
