I rushed down followed by Aunt Cassie in fear that something had happened to Melissa. "Melissa, what happened?" I asked, seeing the mess in front of her. "I'm sorry, Octavia. I didn't mean to destroy your things. I promise, I will replace all the electronics I destroyed," she said with tears in her eyes. "You did this? But why?" I asked, shocked. "I saw the video of your—I mean, our mom," she said. "Did you watch till the end?" I asked, realising the reason for the explosion. "Yes, I did, and now I know now why you avoided showing it to me," she said with tears dripping down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry you had to witness that, kiddo," Aunt Cassie said, hugging Melissa. I stood there feeling helpless knowing I couldn't take her pain away. "Come on, honey; get in on this," Aunt Cassie said, waving me in. I joined them in the hug, making Melissa sob. "Let it out, honey, let it all out," Aunt Cassie said, making Melissa cry even louder. I felt tears fill my eyes watching Melissa cry. I noticed Aunt Cassie tear up, too. "Don't worry, honey, we'll get that monster," I said, touching Melissa's shoulder. "Okay, but I need to be a part of it. You can't kill the monster without me, and it's my right as she was my mum, too," she replied. "I wouldn't dream of it, now that you're a witch and I know that you're my sister as well," I said.
"You Promise?" she asked, smiling through her tears. "I promise, sis," I said, wiping them off her face. "I love you, sis," she said, hugging me. "I love you, too," I said, stroking her hair. "Well, I think a celebration is long overdue," Aunt Cassie said, walking away. "What?" we both said, following her. She went straight to the liquor cabinet and took the best bottle of champagne out. When she popped the cork, it flew towards me and almost struck me in the face. I stopped it with my magic and dropped it to the floor. "Aunt Cassie, are you trying to get rid of me now that you found yourself another niece?" I asked, making her frown. "Hey, it was an accident. Don't joke like that," she said. "Oh, I'm sorry, Aunt Cassie," I replied, smiling and hugging her and bringing a smile to her face as well.
I went to the fridge and got some strawberries and put them into a dish, which we sat to eat with the champagne. We sat there, laughing and joking as the time flew by, after which we went back to bed. I lay there thinking about mum's murder and felt so furious that I couldn't fall asleep. I looked at Aunt Cassie and Melissa; they were fast asleep. 'Light-heads,' I said to myself as I climbed out of bed without waking them up. I then went to check the grimoire about Woldermonsters.
There was a picture of it, along with a vanquishing spell. 'Well, we'll need to find it first,' I said to myself, feeling so much rage that I felt it would consume me if I didn't keep it under control. All of a sudden, I felt a dark presence, which made me turn around instantly, putting my hands out and yelling, "Begone, whatever you are!"
It was dark shadow in front of me saying "I will have your soul, you stinking witch!"
The soul seeker was back. "Why are you after me? Who sent you?" I asked. "It's all because you scorned the wrong witch," it replied, laughing grimly. "But why me specifically? I wasn't alone, so what is it about me that's so appealing?" I yelled furiously. "It's because you've got a darkness within you, witch," it said, making me even more enraged. "Shamanze, shamanzalezgemazi," I chanted, creating a Soul Prison around the creature. "You can't keep me locked forever, you stupid witch!" it shouted. "I saw Aunt Cassie and Melissa come rushing down the stairs shouting "Octavia!" as I went crashing down to the floor.
I woke up in my bed believing I had a nightmare, but seeing Aunt Cassie's and Melissa's faces, I knew it was more than just a bad dream. "Did I dream it all?" I asked, hoping I was wrong. "No, honey, you didn't," answered Aunt Cassie. "The soul seeker said I have a darkness within me," I replied, looking at them. "It's just mind games, honey," Aunt Cassie said, holding my hand. "But what if it's true? It would explain a lot, won't it?" I asked. "Explain what?" Melissa asked. "Well, it would explain why the soul seeker is after me of all people, as well as why I sent Christen to that awful place and me losing my temper so easily—especially when I threw Brian against the wall," I replied, "Maybe I do have a darkness within me."
"No, you don't," Melissa said, "You put your life on the line For Charlie and me. Only good people do that. Believe me, you are nothing but good," she said, hugging me. "Well, what about the soul seeker? Is it still in the house?" I asked. "Yes, it is," Aunt Cassie said. "Let's go talk to it," I said, getting ready to go down. "No, you wait; I will take care of it," Aunt Cassie said, going downstairs. "Wait, I need to find out what it said regarding the darkness in me," I said, following Aunt Cassie. But when we got downstairs, there was a surprise waiting for us.
