Trust Issues.

What do trust issues do to you?

The world has wronged you too many times, the universe played sick games with your patience, injecting love for the wrong people straight into your veins, filling your heart with hope in humans who couldn't offer you half what you expected. 

It hurts, doesn't it? being let down so often? feeling as if your whole world just shattered into a million pieces, hearing your own heartbreak. Your mind's getting foggy, repeating the same words over and over again, 

'How could you?'

How could you pour your all foolishly into someone that wasn't planning to stay? You spent so much time convincing yourself your doubts were just monsters your head has created to lock you away from the outside world, your blind trust outweighed your gut feeling and you followed what your heart said. Now you're here. 

In a darkened room, curtains closed, just like your heart. You locked yourself up and threw away the keys, not wanting to repeat a dumb mistake, a mistake that cost you weeks of tears, a huge portion of your heart and worst of all, 

Your trust. 

You cut yourself while trying to safety pin your heart back together and then lost all that was left of your soul, you stopped trying to fix the damage, now you just hide it away, sweep it under the rug and hope nobody notices how sad your eyes really are. 

Then you developed trust issues. 

Now when somebody lends you a hand you mistake it for a trap, the cage around the unmended pieces of your heart remains sturdy, the key's lost somewhere under the pillow that saw you at your worst, covered in streams of tears, it's nowhere to be found- and it's not like you want to find it anyways. You see people for what they could do, not what they are, Its part of who you are now, feeling like the bodies around you aren't worthy of your time; a significant other seems like a waste of feelings at this point, meaningless.

You'll never fall for misleading lies and untrue feelings again. 

 You push people away.

That's what trust issues do to you.
