"I cannot believe you are here" Lucy cheered, while we passed through the hallways. Everyone was tired, carrying their books around, like in a normal high school, except that here, most people were polite, having a small chat. No bullying went around, not that I knew of. The blue uniforms blended together in front of my eyes.
"That makes two of us" I admitted. I felt extremely uncomfortable in the crowd, and I knew that is something I didn't feel before. I had the urge to turn and glance behind me, looking for the familiar face.
"Can you relax?" Lucy whined quietly, as we reached our classroom. The bell rang soon enough as we passed through the door, so I made my way to my seat, only to find that already an unfamiliar professor-looking woman sat on the teacher's desk. After a few minutes, our original teacher walked in and gave as a tight smile, finding me quite quickly with her eyes.
"Angelina, what a pleasure to have you back!" she greeted me gently "Ms Jones, this is Angelina Ramsey, she just recently got back to our school, due to some... emotional problems" she explained, turning to this so-called Ms Jones, who watched me with utter shock. I could not put it into place, she scanned my face after she heard my name, then glanced away almost immediately.
"It's nice meeting you all" she then said "As you may know, the school has a program to call in various people with various professions, and so here I am. I'm a psychiatrist, a therapist to put it easier for now" she explained and I rose an eyebrow. Questions came at her at the moment she announced her reason for being here.
The woman was around her thirties, with bright blue eyes, and a natural chocolate brown hair, and professional glasses. She had a very nice figure, I had to admit it.
"Have you ever worked in a mental institution?" someone in the back called, and Ms Jones looked in the direction, giving a tight smile.
"We are ought to have little experience with them, although they are not as bad as in the movies." her reply caused our little crowd to give out a sigh as if they wanted to hear horror stories of crazy lunatics.
People urged for things they did not know until they knew them. Not me indeed, since I had my fair share of psychopathic people in my life.
"Did you ever have any dangerous patients?" the came the next and her smile sank into something rather bitter, before trying to become friendly again. Probably unconsciously, she glanced at me before replying, and I didn't know how to take this gesture.
"Throughout my career, I've met some people who could be considered violent, or even dangerous. But I find that... most of these people are above all, damaged... There is no violence on its own" I couldn't help but think about Eric... yeah above all, he was damaged. He was a boy who had to grow up too early, and so he created something that could handle the horror, he called his life so early on. I wonder what would he think, or feel, if he knew how much I knew about his childhood now, or well, compared to that he never told me anything.
"Have you ever met a psychopath?"
"Psychopaths are not that easy to spot, but I might as well had met a few of them"
I didn't know why I did this, but I felt my hand raising and she turned to me, her eyes extremely worried, trying to mask something I couldn't quite get.
"Have you ever met anyone with a split-personality? And if so, do you believe it's curable?" After everyone stared at me confused for a while I added "Just because some doctors even call bollox on the whole thing... I was wondering if the sickness is even real" Ms Jones scanned me patiently as if pity and interest would've mixed in her expression.
"I did, Angelina. But usually, someone with such a rare case of schizophrenia is hard to predict in the matter of complete healing. These people most of the time had a huge trauma, and due to that, came the splitting... They might never be stable" she looked into my eyes the whole time she was speaking and I started to get the hint that something is off... she tried to tell me something. I spent the rest of the class quiet, listening to her answers, but only hearing them distantly.
