Lights dimmed. Applause and cheers erupted in the surface.

Inhale.

She composed herself before stepping further into the edge of the wobbly platform. She closes her eyes to adjust her awareness, trying to focus only on her task and surroundings.

A combination of the musky scent and burnt sage soothed her nostrils, giving her a sense of calmness.

... exhale.

She let herself fall.

Rapid friction hit her whole body. A suction-like sensation temporarily overruled her being as it contacted with the air pressure. She stayed calm, focusing on keeping herself steady, her movements precise, as she kept an eye on the slow interchange between her partners. The pull of gravity didn't stop her as her body swung between metallic rods and ropes. It felt all natural to her and all she could do was smile because no words could describe how she felt.

It was surreal – the ethereal feeling that enveloped her while being suspended in the air where everything is uncertain. Where the mass of people are too distant to witness one's reaction.

It felt as if she had temporarily escaped reality. The air had fully equipped her to have her own wings, wings that she could spread in order to be herself. Her real self.

She couldn't help but think how ironic it is to be doing something so dangerous and have no assurance could make her feel the sense of belonging...

A sense of certainty.

Certainty..that was and never was the norm.

Some of her co-performers, especially Xiao You, would often compare it to an indescribable feeling.

Love.

They say it could be comparable to such.

"Yeah we love what we do. Of course we feel that way."

"...No Shancai. It's the same as finding the love of your life."

Xiao You's words echoed through her head, like a distant song that slowly fades, leading her to a state of awareness, making her more conscious of the prying eyes in front of her.

Mouths hang open, eyes filled with wonder and amazement as she felt the crowd watch her.

And with that, she felt contented. Her heart gleamed with triumph, as a sense of pride and satisfaction roared in her chest. She couldn't help but smile at the crowd.
