A Dead Land

Chaeyoung looked around as they got to the isolated land in the middle of the forest. It was quite bizarre for her to see that in the forest. The surrounding was too quiet as they got to the centre of the land which could be as big as a football stadium. No sounds of animals can be heard like in the forest. It could be peaceful but also having a dead vibe there.

She watched as Mino was pushing the end of the steel pole into the ground. Jungkook saw her serious face and he waved his hand in front of her with a smile. "I'm here. Why are you looking at Mino?", he asked her. "I'm not looking at him. I'm looking all around here. It's...too quiet than in the forest.", she said as she looked at Jungkook.

"I used to come here with Yoongi hyung, you know? And he told me that this place is called the Dead Land.", Jungkook told her with a faint smile but Chaeyoung did not smile back. She looked away from him as she said, "Don't say that kind of thing, Jungkook. It's not funny."

"I was serious. Yoongi hyung said that.", Jungkook stated again with a nod that made Chaeyoung shook her head. "I mean don't say that now, please.", she said as she looked at him with a dispirited look. He was about to ask why before he understood it by himself. "Sorry, I just remembered the past. I shouldn't bring it up.", he said as he knew that Chaeyoung probably did not like to hear the word 'dead' at the moment.

"I want to go help Mino oppa.", Chaeyoung said as she walked to where Mino is. Jungkook followed her and asked if there is anything he could help too. "No, Jungkook. You stay out of this preparation. It's better that way.", Irene said as she walked to them back after making sure the surrounding is safe.

Because of that, he stepped back a little as Chaeyoung helped Mino with the steel pole that have a pair of 2 meters link chains at the centre of it. He had to stay away from there to avoid himself from getting extra nervous than he already is.

After 15 minutes, everything is prepared for the ritual. So, Irene gave a signal to Jungkook asking if he is ready to undergo the ritual. He nodded confidently even though he felt so tensed inside. He tried to show calmness to all of them since he did not want any of them to find out his true feeling at the moment.

He walked to the pole and leaned on it before he finally took a deep breath and, "Let's do this now."

Right after he said that, Chaeyoung followed Mino walking away from Jungkook. She did it as she has been advised by Irene to keep her distance from him for safety purpose. She did not understand why but she did it too as she will know the reason later when the ritual has started. She stood about 2 meters away from him with Mino beside her.

"How long will it take, oppa?", she asked slowly as she watched Irene has started to speak in a language she could not understand. "It depends, Chaeyoung. But usually it takes a long time too.", Mino answered as he watched Irene saying the spell for the reversion. "Let's just wait here for him, okay?", he turned to see Chaeyoung's face briefly. She looked worried so he patted her shoulder to make her relax a bit.

She recalled her conversation with Irene when they washed the dishes after Jungkook's birthday celebration that early morning. She asked how the ritual is like and how painful it can be as they were both at the kitchen while Jungkook was with Mino at the living room.

Irene told her that there will be three stages where Jungkook will have to go through. First stage, he will have to withstand the heat of the sunlight to a certain degrees. Because of it is only 8 in the morning, the first stage will take a long time for him to be done with.

For the second stage, he has to hold himself from drinking the blood that is prepared for him. The blood will be animal's blood but still will be quite tough for him since he will get weaker as he is done with the first stage. This is where both of his hands will be chained up to help hold him if he begins to go berserk.

And for the last stage...Irene did not get to tell Chaeyoung because Jungkook came to the kitchen making Chaeyoung signalled Irene to stop talking about it. She did not want him to listen to it as she is worried he will be affected by it. But she did not know that he already heard it actually. And she did not know that he came to stop Irene from telling her the last stage he has to go through.

Of course he knew about all the stages but he will not let Chaeyoung finds out. Especially the last stage of the ritual. He knew she will not like it at all if she finds out about it.
