SUPER LONG CHAPTER: EXPLANATION OF BREAK UP
Zion POV
"Ok so Zion, your birthday is ending in a minute, which means mine starts in a minute. I just wanted to thank you for being the best gift I could ask for. You're the most amazing person to have ever walked into my life and I'll forever be grateful." I watched my best friend as she spoke and I immediately felt them, this was it.
For months I had been searching for a sign and finally, here it was, I like her. I like my best friend. My mind was telling me to tell her how I feel but it's her birthday, I don't want to lose her on her birthday. I know I'd be wasting my time because she definitely does not feel the same way towards me.
"After that day, the day, our 11th birthday, I knew I had feelings for my best friend... What I was going to do about them, I had no clue yet." I watched as the whole room consisting of Sam, Rupp, Jack J, Jack G, Austin, Nick, Brandon, Edwin and of course Antheia all stared at me.
I was placed in this predicament as everyone was so curious as to why and how Antheia and I dated and why we can not be in the same room without awkward tension looming around. I found it incredibly annoying that they were prying into my love life but I guess it all came from a good place.
"For one year, a whole 365 days, I said nothing about my feelings to anyone but with every passing day they grew stronger and eventually I just had to tell someone. It was 4 days before my 12th birthday and Antheia and I had a whole week long sleepover with her sister at my place. I eventually told my 8-year-old brother how I felt, thinking he doesn't understand anything I was telling him until that night Kekeli and Aphrodite pulled me aside before dinner."
"Elom told us."
"What did that little boy say?" I asked genuinely confused knowing my brother speaks a load of rubbish at times.
"He told us you like her, we know how you feel about Antheia." My stomach immediately dropped. This was it, the beginning of the end.
"Does she know? Please tell me Elom was at least smart enough not to tell her."
"Don't worry she doesn't... but you have to tell her. You have to ask her out." I immediately scoffed at Kekeli, what am I dense?
"Yeah, ask her out and then she never speaks to me again because she doesn't like me like that."
"But I do like you like that. I just thought you didn't see me like that." I looked up to see my best friend, my crush, standing in the doorway leading to the second lounge... where we were standing.
"What do you mean you like me?"
"Zion, for so long I've liked you. It's the reason why I rejected Ricky Garcia and all those guys cause I liked you but I always scared to tell you how I felt."
"Well, Anthy... I like you as well."
"That day was the beginning of our love story, I ended up asking her out on her birthday, everyone was so happy to finally see us together but we were happier together. It was safe to say we were in love with each other, everyone knew that. We were the power couple all throughout middle school and high school but things started getting really shaky in the 11th grade. At that point, we had been together for 4 years solid, no breakup or any sort of break. But the 11th- grade was very demanding, if it wasn't the workload, it was her cheerleading or running the Student Body Council while I was so busy with my music and basketball. We tried making it work but things were just getting too complicated." I took a break from my explanation and looked up to see Antheia with glazed eyes, it caused my eyes to water knowing this was all my fault.
