So, this has been growing on my chest for AGES and I need to get it off asap, so bear with me for this v angry rant:

Expectations for kids, by the kids.

I am a young girl and I have seen so much change over the past few years in my friends, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I started a new school recently and I find nearly 99% of my schools population (and others) are consisting of one thing for girls:

Dyed, messy buns

Makeup

Too-tight clothes

Duckface selfies

Extensions

3-inch long skirts

Deliberately bigger bras

Ears and face pierced by metal anywhere

The newest, coolest phone

Annoying obnoxious accent

5-inch long nails

And most of these kids are only just over 12.

What the hell.

And these are the same people who post quotes about being yourself etc. on their Instagrams and Facebooks and whatever

Like, girl I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have three inches of makeup on, a tummy/tongue piercing or walked around the school in high heels of it wasn't from the influence of others. I'm not saying this affects their personality (usually...), because I have this lovely older neighbour who goes to school with me and she's really nice, it's just she's so different from two years ago, before she made friends with other people and went to discos requiring minuscule amounts of clothing, being replaced by makeup to conceal the spots and flaws in your skin that is perfectly natural and has little kids (I was one of them) growing up thinking that acne was a crime and you only looked pretty when your eyes were outlined with black and your lips were a.completely contrasting colour (thanks a whole lot, Barbie)

Honestly, though, I don't mind most of these stuff in my own opinion. Heck, I want to get a double earring, the coolest phone and perfect nails just because I WANT TO. Not to show it off to my friends. That may seem hard to believe but honestly where does showing off get you? People jealous, thinking bad stuff, spreading rumours, murder. (lol jk that last one)

It's just that when this stuff is affecting me, and making me freak out in public; "Oh God, she's going to think I'm weird for only having an iPod!! Is she judging my hair?? I Knew I should've put it up in that bun!!! Where's your eyeliner when you need it? I look like nine!!!!" it makes me SO MAD. Gurl, where does all this get you? Fake friends and you featuring on the next episode of Teen Mom. Seriously, how does this help you?
