the first thing junmyeon did when he got home was start bawling. properly bawling, chest aching as he could hardly control his sobs. he slid down the front door, sehun immediately rushing to his side.

"e-everything h-h-hurts," junmyeon sobbed.

"shhh, i know, hyung," sehun said, rocking him back and forth like a baby, "i know."

"i l-love him," junmyeon cried.

"i know," sehun hushed him again, "i know you do, hyung. it's gonna be okay."

"d-did i do the r-right thing?" junmyeon asked. sehun pursed his lips together. he didn't believe junmyeon did, but that's not what junmyeon needed right now.

"y-yeah, hyung, you did the right thing. we're gonna be alright. everything's gonna be alright. you just focus on work and on growing this baby inside of you, your mom and i are gonna handle everything else, okay?"

"o-okay, hunnie," junmyeon cried. he figured he'd feel relieved when he finally did. he figured breaking up with him would be the hardest part of it.

no more cuddles, no more kisses on the head, no more good-morning calls and goodnight texts. no more dad jokes. he hadn't realized that having to live without yixing would be even worse than just breaking up with him.

because junmyeon had absolutely no idea how he was supposed to deal with himself without yixing.

—————

three months. it had been three cruel months.

sehun remembered when junmyeon had gotten dumped by the previous boyfriend before yixing. he thought that was bad. junmyeon had cried every day, had trouble eating.

but not like this.

because now junmyeon dealt with morning sickness, got hungry like crazy but had trouble keeping food down. it was so clear that junmyeon was depressed again, but the doctor said no medicine because any drugs could affect the baby other than basic tylenol or fever antibiotics. junmyeon was proving to be a pretty good mom so far. despite not wanting to eat, he'd eat for the baby. despite not wanting to sleep, he'd sleep for the baby. despite being severely depressed, he'd pretend to be alright because he was afraid that stress would affect the baby.

work was proving difficult, junmyeon terrified that yixing would show up and see junmyeon's small but still apparent baby bump. and moving on his feet too much made him tired quickly, so he stopped going to the bakery and did all of his work from home. junmyeon ate healthily, slept the recommended mouth, even ate vegetables he hated so that the baby could get his nutrients.

and sehun and his mom worried about the rest. they bought the crib (well, minji bought the crib because sehun was a nearly broke college student who still had to worry about his side of rent, but sehun picked it out because he had stated multiple times that this baby would be the most stylish baby to ever exist). sehun picked out all of the clothes online, not wanting to leave junmyeon in case he needed something. sehun was really, really stepping into his godfather role, and junmyeon was at least happy about that.

"hunnie look!" junmyeon exclaimed, trotting into sehun's room one night at three a.m. when he was nearly five months, "wake up! wake up!"

"is it labor time?" sehun nearly shot out of bed.

"no, idiot, i still need four more months. but look! you can feel the baby kicking!" junmyeon was grinning. sehun placed his hand on junmyeon's stomach, junmyeon moving it to where he could feel the little kicks. sehun's mouth gaped open.

"woah!" sehun said, "call your mom!"

"okay, okay," junmyeon said, grabbing sehun's phone and putting the password in before going to contacts. he went to '2nd mom' and clicked on it. minji answered right away.

"any problems?" minji asked.

"mommy, mommy, the baby's kicking!" junmyeon said excitedly.

"OH MY GOD, REALLY? HEECHUL, MY GRANDSON IS MOVING!" minji screeched.

"our grandson, dear," heechul corrected.

"hey, dad," junmyeon greeted, "sorry for waking you."

"you didn't, honey, your mom did," heechul laughed, "i think she just burst an eardrum."

"yah, do you want to sleep on the couch?" minji asked, "junmyeon, i'll go over first thing tomorrow morning."

"okay, momma," junmyeon said, "i'm gonna go back to sleep now, goodnight."

"goodnight, honey!" his parents said in unison before hanging up. junmyeon sighed, sehun still feeling the baby kick.

"this baby is one hyper little dude," sehun said, "he like, won't stop. doesn't it hurt?"

"a little, but i don't really care," junmyeon said, "imma go lay down now. back is starting to hurt."

"hey, hyung, i know you probably don't want to hear about him but have you checked his instagram feed? he made a company one, run by him and jongin, and he's getting a crazy sum of followers each night," sehun said. junmyeon nodded.

"i know. i followed," junmyeon said.

"you did what?" sehun gaped, "what if he sees your account?"

"on my other account, not my main one," junmyeon rolled his eyes, "relax, i'm not dumb."

"thank god," sehun said, "i was afraid he was gonna come knocking on the door. alright, well, goodnight, hyung."

"goodnight, hun," junmyeon smiled back, going to his room. he sat down on his bed, still feeling anson kick.

maybe, just maybe, he could do this.
