"oh my god, that thing is worth more than my life," minji said, staring at junmyeon's middle finger, "but why is it on your middle finger?"

"chinese tradition," junmyeon explained.

"is it heavy?" sehun asked. he left work for this. no regrets.

"yeah, really heavy," junmyeon said, "but it's like... nice, though."

"let me take a photo to send to your father's sister. she's always bragging how her daughter just got married. i'm sick of it. her daughter doesn't have a seven million dollar ring," minji said. sehun laughed at that.

"wow... just... wow. he has excellent taste," sehun nodded to himself. junmyeon agreed with him.

"a shame the entire marriage is fake," junmyeon sighed as her mom took a photo of junmyeon's hand.

"who knows? maybe he'll fall in love with all over again," minji said happily, "and then i'll have my perfect son in law back."

"mom, you have two other son in laws," junmyeon laughed.

"yes, but not perfect son in laws," minji said, "there's a difference."

"mum, i miss him," junmyeon said, suddenly pouting as he stared at the ring, "i miss him."

"i know, honey. but he'll fall back in love with you. he can't be helped. he's lost without you," minji said.

"stuff like that only happens in movies and wattpad stories," junmyeon sighed, "this is the real world, mom. this is my life now. a pretend wife for my pretend husband so that we don't look shameful to public eye."

"don't be a debbie downer," minji said, "yixing will fall back in love. he never fell out of it. it's only a matter of time, i say."

"i agree with your mom," sehun said, "you should see the way he looks at you."

"sehun, he looks at me with anger, emptiness, and contempt," junmyeon said flatly.

"i meant when you're not looking back, junmyeon," sehun rolled his eyes, staring at junmyeon's ring, "people don't get rings like that for people they're only pretending to love. he'd get a fake one. that one's real. so is his love for you."

"even so, he'd never admit it," junmyeon said, "he doesn't believe in love, not anymore. and tomorrow we're making it official to the public."

"bullshit," junmyeon's dad walked into the room, "that boy loves you. trust me, he loves you just as much as he did five years ago. the type of love he had for you- that never goes away."

"hey, dad, look at my ring," junmyeon said, showing his father his hand. his mouth dropped open.

"holy shit-"

"heechul," minji warned.

"holy shitzu," heechul said, grabbing hold of junmyeon's hand, "that's worth more than my arm and my leg."

"isn't it pretty?" sehun asked, staring at it in admiration.

"when are you gonna get luhan one?" junmyeon teased. sehun rose an eyebrow, reaching into his pocket and pulling out an engagement box. everyone gaped.

"shut up, really?" junmyeon asked, "how long have you been together?"

"five and a half months... plus the two years we didn't tell anyone about," sehun said. junmyeon hit his arm.

"asshole, you could have told me!" junmyeon explained. sehun shrugged.

"been saving for this since i we met on facetime five years back," sehun said, "you wanna see it?"
