It's the way Two Bit cares

This is the first time I've written before 1am in a while so round of applause for me everyone

Your vision was going cloudy again. You could do nothing but sit back and watch as the hospital waiting room smeared into one giant blob. And it was all in your head.
You see your vision had been tripping up for the last two hours because you hadn't slept in 48 hours. Now your brain was trying to MAKE you sleep. But you refused. Your little brother was in the hospital and you were going to stay awake Incase he needed you. You were all he had. You'd raised him most of your life, as your parents were always off in Costa Rica doing unspeakable things. Or so you assumed from their constant letters home, talking about how beautiful the coral reefs were and how their marriage was falling apart.
But anyway. You'd taken him into the ER late last night for a horrible stomach ache. That kid had a set of lungs for a 5 year old. So far they'd done a few tests. But not many. He wasn't in pain because of the meds they gave him.
Money was no issue as your parents had funds stored away for trips and such. Without you. But now they'd have to use some of it to pay their sons medical bill. Boo hoo.
So here you waited. You'd called some of your friends from the gang and told them you wouldn't be over cause you had to take Jason to the hospital. They sent their condolences.
You had your head in your hands when you felt someone sit down beside you. You didn't even bother to look up.
It was silent for a few seconds before a familiar voice said
"What's up buttercup." You looked into the grey eyes of Two Bit. He grinned at you and you tried to grin back. But you couldn't find the energy. Instead your eyes just watered and tears spilled over onto your cheeks.
He pulled you into his chest. "Hey hey it's okay ."
"I'm - I'm just w-worried about him." You hiccuped.
"I know." He cooed. "We all are."
"We?" You asked.
"The gang! They wanted to come but Darry made Ponyboy go to bed. Johnny didn't want to go without Ponyboy and Dally didn't want to go without Johnny and Soda didn't want to make Darry mad so he stayed with Steve." You laughed.
"What a bunch of followers.." you mumbled. "... but not you?"
He nodded.
"Not me."
"I'm glad." You were about to tell him how much he meant to you but before you could, a nurse walked out of the double doors towards where you were sitting. You recognized her as your brothers nurse. She had sat with you when you brought your brother to the hospital. She let you sob on her shoulder while the tests results came back. (They still hadn't) and while she left to go check on your brother, Two Bit had shown up. She had dark hair, dark skin, and dark brown eyes. She gave you a kind smile as she approached you.
Two Bit sensed your anxiety and gripped your hand tight.
"Y/N.." she began. "I'm afraid it's appendicitis."
Honestly you had no clue what that meant but it sounded big and scary so tears started to form in your eyes again.
"W-what does that mean?" You asked.
"It means his appendix is infected. We'll have to do surgery to remove it." She looked at you sympathetically. You squeezed Two Bits hand a little tighter.
"Is he doing alright?" Asked Two Bit, just as shocked by the nurses words as you were.
"Yes, he's actually doing very well for his condition. We'll get him into surgery as soon as the OR opens up." She squeezed your shoulder. "We'll take good care of him Y/N, don't you worry." You genuinely smiled back at her this time. She walked off to prep your brother for surgery.
"Why don't you call your parents Y/N.." Two Bit Said gently, still holding your hand.
"Yeah.. maybe they'll come home for once." You said. He led you over to a pay phone in the lobby. He slid some coins in and waited. You realized he was waiting for you to dial your parents number.
They picked up after three rings.
"Y/N? What are doing calling at this hour." Your mom asked on the other line.
"How did you know it was me?" You asked. You were calling from the hospital phone.
"Why you're the only one who ever calls us dear!" She chuckled.
"Look mom, Jason is in the hospital. He's got endometriosis.."
"Appendicitis" Two Bit whispered from behind you.
"Oh! Yeah.. a -pen -decide -this .." you mumbled. You heard Two Bit face palm behind you. "But anyways he needs surgery."
"Oh honey! That's terrible. I'll send you a care package.. " she said hurriedly. "But you have GOT to see the turtles on the gulf. And the shrimp tacos are to die for!" She rambled on. Two Bit hugged your waist. You put the phone on the hook, hanging up.
"I'm so sorry.." he said quietly.
"I should have known.." your voice broke as tears rolled down your cheeks for the millionth time that night.
"No. Who needs her? I'm going to take care of you. You and Jason." You turned around and met his eyes. "I love you Y/N. I came because I love you."
You sniffled. "I love you too, Two." He grinned his goofy grin and wiped the tears off your cheeks.
"Step one- we're going back to the Curtis house. And you are getting some sleep." He said.
"But- but I cant sleep. I unsubscribed." You argued. "I can't just leave my brother."
"Well first of all, Darry's got some melatonin. And second, your brother living won't be any use if you die of exhaustion." You sighed.
"Fair point."
"Check mate."
"Shut up." He scooped you off your feet.
"Get some sleep."
