Strangers brushed up against you on the dance floor. It was Saturday night packed. People came to forget their troubles or hook up. But you weren't quite sure what you were looking for.
The entire bar - and maybe even house- was illuminated with red light. The smell of liquor and cigarettes pooled in the air. Maybe you were just high off second hand smoke, but you were starting to forget him. You prayed that it was for good this time.
You were dancing with strangers, moving your hips, until you were passed off to a man with ice blue eyes.
You hadn't even realized you were crying until he wiped a tear off your cheek.
"Tough love?" He asked, making a pouty face. You scoffed. He had one hand lightly on your waist and the other casually draped across your shoulder. This wasn't his first rodeo.
"I'll make you a deal." You said. "How about if you just dance with me- we won't talk about my problems." He chuckled lowly.
"Now that's no fun is it..." he smirked. His smirk looked exactly like his smile. The raised eyebrows. Looking up at you while also making you feel like you're two feet tall. God, this boy wasn't good for you.
"Get lost.." you mumbled pulling away from him. You didn't even have time to see the look on his face before you stormed outside to the front porch. You grabbed a cigarette out of your pocket and sat on the steps.
Yeah. You were never getting over him.
And as if things couldn't get any worse, you didn't even have a light.
You moaned in frustration and threw your cancer stick far out into the yard.
"You know that's bad for the grass, right?" Said a familiar voice. You jumped out of your skin. The same chuckle from only moments early echoed across the empty front yard.
He sat down beside you.
"My names Dallas." He said. He held out a lighter instead of his hand to shake. You took it and re lighted another cigarette.
"Well thanks Dallas, but I'm a little busy right now." You said bitterly.
"Oh please, I can see right through you." He snapped. "Some boy broke your heart, didn't he?"
"No! You don't know a damn thing about me, and didn't I tell you to get lost!" You snapped at him. You couldn't help the tears in your eyes.
He sighed. He glanced over at you, first looking annoyed. He went through 300 different emotions faster than you could tie your shoes. Finally deciding on some type of frustrated sympathy.
"Look sweetheart, forget him. I'm sorry I brought it up... you're different from the rest here- and.." he trailed off
"I'm no different from anyone here and neither are you." You sighed angrily. "So quit goin on about it."
He held his hands up in surrender. "I never did get your name." You considered sassing him, but your resentment toward him was changing. Into.. something else. No way in hell did you have a crush on him. You'd never love another guy but Micheal, the reason you were here. The original plan was to get so wasted that you forgot your name- but it looked like that wasn't going to be happening tonight.
"Names Y/N. It's nice to.. uh.. meet you Dallas." You said
"Yeah ditto." He said getting up to go back into Bucks. "Call me sometime. And tell that guy he doesn't deserve you." He said with a smirk.
"But I don't have your-"
"Check your pockets." He winked.
Yeah. Maybe Micheal wasn't so great.
