"Aw no. Aw shoot." You heard someone heavily sigh. "I am NOT responsible for this.. this isn't my problem." They kept mumbling to themselves.
Wait. Where were you?
You opened one eye as the sun nearly blinded you.
Oh. The socs.
You now vividly remembered walking home from the store only to get beat up by some angry socs looking for a fight. Now the leader of the Shepard gang stood above you, pacing back and forth. He didn't seem to notice you were awake.
"Hey man ." You groaned. Saying man was of course a bad habit you'd picked up from Dallas.
He noticed you and his eyes widened in surprise. He kneeled down to your height.
"Hey baby Curtis. They got ya good didn't didn't they?" Tim said squeezing your shoulder a bit. Usually you'd break his jaw for calling you that but you weren't quite sure you could even sit up.
"Guess so.." you mumbled. You now noticed the dull throbbing in your knee. You couldn't see how bad it was through your jeans.
"Look kid I'd take you home but your brothers would beat me. They'd think I did this to ya and I don't want no greaser rumble." He said.
"Yeah Tim I understand. That wouldn't be pretty."
"Our kind man.." he mumbled. "crazy." He thought to himself before getting back to his feet. "Well I best be going kiddo- I'll see ya around."
"Have a nice day!" You called. He waved back hardly turning around.
The pain in your knee was getting worse. Like. A lot worse. It was fine though. You could hop home. Lord, how were you going to hide this from Darry?
You struggled to get up heavily leaning on your left leg. After standing there for a couple seconds like a flamingo- then attempting to hop, you eventually just put your right leg down.
I mean you could handle it right?
Nope.
Pain shot up your leg and you could swear you felt something move. You screamed and collapsed to the ground.
Tim looked back in alarm and came rushing toward you.
You were embarrassed by his concern. Apart from Dallas- he was one of the toughest guys in town.
"Oh man..your knee.." You followed his gaze to the leg of your jeans. There was something sticking out and I'm not talking bone.
"Oh sweetie.. that's dislocated." You groaned. You'd only dislocated something once. And it was not fun.
You fell out of a tree a year ago and your shoulder looked horrendous. Darry- and some other guys in the gang- weren't home so that left you with Johnny Dally and Pony. Dally took one look at it and told you it was dislocated. Pony wanted to help but neither him or Johnny knew how to pop a shoulder back in socket.
So that left you in the bathroom with Dally with a dishrag in your mouth while he re- located your shoulder.Never. Again.
Tim sighed. "Well now I gotta take you home." You grumbled in pain. And dread. Stupid socs. Stupid Tim. Stupid Tulsa.
"You want me to pop this back in here or do you want your brother to do it?" He asked.
"Id rather die." You stated simply.
"Aaaalrighty then. I'll take you home." He swiftly picked you up and started walking.*lil time skip*
"tiM SHEPARD WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY SISTER!" You heard the booming voice before Tim even reached the front door. Darry opened the door and yelled for Soda.
You were now at the front door as Tim explained what happened.
"I found her on the street corner- I think her knees busted up real bad, I'm not sure about anything else.." he went on . Soda pop took you from his arms and gently set you on the couch. He didn't say much, just walked away to go get the first aid kit.
You heard Darry shut the door and assumed he was done interrogating Tim.
"Darry I'm sorry- I shoulda been carrying a blade I didn't mean for any of this to happen-" you started. He looked at you shocked.
"This isn't your fault.." he said kneeling down in front of you. "I just need you to tell me what hurts."
"And who did this to you!" Two Bit called from the kitchen. "So we can kick their-"
"Got the kit Dar." Soda said, handing Darry the first aid kit.Darry cleaned up the cut that you didn't know you had on your lip. Once he was finished he left to throw away the bloody tissues.
He came back a couple seconds later.
"Let's take a look at that knee." He said moving to roll up your jeans.
You took a deep breath, knowing what was coming. You looked away as your knee was exposed.
You heard Darry hiss through his teeth. Then silence. You uncovered your eyes to see him looking up at you sympathetically.
"Looks like it's out of socket kiddo."
You looked down at your knee and almost passed out cold. It was one of the most disgusting things you'd ever seen. It wasn't bloody and there were no cuts or anything. It was just your knee cap... wasn't where a knee cap should be..
"I'm gonna have to-"
"Just do it." You cut him off.
"what?"
"DO IT DARRY PUT IT BACK IN."
"I-"
"DO IT NOW!" He looked kind of scared but then he just shrugged.
"On three." He said.
"NO NOT ON THREE JUST- OW HOLY SHIT!" You yelled. He listened to you and just shoved it back in. You groaned at the throbbing in your knee. But at least it looked like your knee again.
"Thanks.. I guess." You mumbled. He didn't even seem to care that you swore. He rolled down the leg of your jeans.
"No problem. Just don't go dislocating anything else." He said patting you on the knee. Yes. On the knee.
You yelped and he jumped back.
"OH MY GOSH IM SO SORRY-" he started.
"It's alright". You groaned.
Ponyboy ended up carrying you up to your room that night saying you shouldn't walk on it until morning. He got you some ice and you fell asleep thinking 'at least Darry was home this time.'
