I feel awFuL right now. So that's the inspiration behind this one.

I slammed the door to my house, ignored the gang's curious glances, and ran up the stairs. I'd been living with my three cousins for 4 months now since my Mom and Dad went missing. I was an only child and you can imagine how shocked Darry, Soda, and Pony were to find out they had a cousin. And how shocked I was to find out that their parents -my aunt and uncle- had died only weeks earlier. But I still had hope my parents would come back. That is- until today.
"Y/N!" Called Soda from downstairs. "What's wrong? Did we do something?"
I rolled my eyes and groaned, sliding down my bedroom door. They always thought these things were their fault. It drove me mad.
I decided to ignore him. Bad choice. I heard whispering then heavy footsteps coming up the stairs. I could tell it was more than one person.
Knock knock. "Y/N we know you're in there." Said Soda gently. Soda was one of the only people I really trusted. He understood me most of the time and I could come to him with anything. But not this. And I wanted to respond I really did, but I couldn't find it in me. So I just sat on the floor and cried.
"She probably just didn't make the cheer team." Mumbled Dallas. Then I heard a "thunk" which I could only assume was Soda hitting him upside the head. I waited few more moments before I heard a sigh and the footsteps retreated down the stairs.
I had to get out of here. I couldn't face telling any of the gang what happened. It would just make things worse for them. So I grabbed some paper from the vanity that used to be my Aunts and wrote a note.

Guys,
You know I love you all and I really wish I could stay. I want to say thank you for accepting me as fast as you did. But I also couldn't face telling you the news. So I'm leaving this note instead. By the time you get this you won't have to worry about me anymore. Just know I'm alive. And my parents... they aren't. I got called down to the principals office today and was met by one of the fuzz. They told me they found my parents! I was overjoyed, thinking about how we could get a house in Tulsa and maybe y'all could live with us. Until they told me they found my parents bodies. I'll spare you the details. But they're gone. God rest their souls and I hope with all my heart they're somewhere with your parents now. I'll see you around.
-Y/N

I wiped my tear stained face and put the note on my Aunt and Uncles old bed. I'd been staying in their room for the past few months and I have to admit, I was kind of glad to leave. There's something unsettling about living in a ghosts room. The room was on the second floor and no way was I going out the front door. I threw some clothes in a bag and swept my
Y/H/C hair into a ponytail. The window opened easily and I stood on the ledge, taking one last look back before I jumped.
I ended up landing with most my weight on my left wrist. I ignored the pain and brushed myself off. I was headed back home. Parents or no parents.
"Uh Y/N?" I heard a voice behind me. I froze. At this point there was no excuse valid enough as to why I just jumped out the second story window. My best option was to outrun whoever it was. I didn't even look back. I'd wasted enough time. God I hoped it wasn't Ponyboy.
I ran as fast as I could. I didn't hear footsteps behind me so that was a good sign. I ran all the way to the park, when I saw someone running towards me. At first I just figured it was a jogger but as they got closer I saw they were running too fast to be a jogger. Uh oh. It was Ponyboy. I turned around and ran the other way. But it was no use.
About 50 feet from where I used to be, I was football tackled to the ground. My wrist made a snapping noise and I screamed in pain. Ponyboy got off of me and looked at me with lots of emotions written on his face. Before I could figure out what he was thinking, Two Bit and Dallas came running up. I hadn't even noticed them.
"The hell did you do to her Pony?" Asked Dally. The three of them were staring at my wrist which looked a little blue if I was being honest.
"Never mind my wrist.." I mumbled. "Why are you guys here."
"Pony saw ya leave so he went to your room and found the note. We really are sorry about your parents, kid. But you can't just leave us." Said Two Bit squatting down to my height. The other two sat down on the grass across from me, Dallas griping about getting stains on his jeans.
I sighed. "I'm sorry you guys. I just didn't want to see the looks on your faces when you found out they were gone. I don't need anyone's sympathy. My parents were pretty much gone anyway.." I fought back the tears in my eyes but one escaped. Two Bit reached over and wiped it away.
"Come on sweetheart, we don't need ya cryin." He smiled sadly.
"Let's go home." Said Ponyboy helping me up. He grabbed my black and blue wrist and pulled me up. Then he realized what he did.
"Oh shit Y/N!" He cried ,wide eyed.
"MOTHERFU-" But I was cut off by Pony.
"Yeah we'll have Darry take a look at that." Dally said.
"Uhg!" I groaned. "Next time I'm going out the first story window."
