Derek, Katy and Ryan stay in the cafeteria of the hospital eating lunch. Val was going into surgery in an hour.
"Why is mommy here?"
Katy looked and Derek and then looked at Ryan.
"Mommy's just sick. The doctors and gonna try to fix her today."
"What's wrong with her?"
"Her heart's broken." Derek chokes.
"I hope they fix it. Then she can come home." Ryan smiled shoving some food in his mouth.
Katy and Derek were both holding back tears. Ryan was so oblivious to what was happening. He knew of death, but he wasn't aware of how it worked. Derek feared that if something happened to Val, that he'd have to explain to Ryan that what's gone is gone.
"We should probably go see her before the surgery starts. I think we all need to spend every second we possibly can with her..."
Katy nodded and all three of them went back up to Val's room.

This is incredibly short, I know. I've had so much to do and I kinda forgot to write. Meh.
I'll try and put the next part out later today or sometime tomorrow. If not later in the week. I have a ton of homework.
