Chapter 19: The Roar Of Time

Being hunted by the royal army sucks we can't stay in any town so we're forced to stick to the forests to avoid detection because I don't want to have to deal with "there's the staff devil stop him". Besides all of that the girls and I are close to finding the temple that holds the next stone I can feel it ever since I got the first stone I felt like I had to get the rest of them no matter what I don't know why but I couldn't let the king get a hold of the supposed infinite power or the church because God knows what they'd do with it but it couldn't be good.

Time Skip

Along the way I began to feel more of the girl's feelings towards me I wanted to show them I cared but I didn't want to hurt them it put me in a bad situation. What sucked the most was that I wanted to have feelings for them but besides not wanting to hurt them my lack of trust prevented me from opening up I know it sounds stupid now I had gotten over being a solo player but ever since I was growing up women and other people only ever used me for stuff they didn't want to be with me for me only free gaming items, money in-game and IRL, help fighting a boss and other stuff. With girls they ignored me unless they wanted free drinks or someone to make their boyfriend jealous. So with all that had happened in my life I never thought a girl would like me for me. We were a days hike away from the temple and it was getting dark so I decided that we should stop and set up camp thank God for Nitra's hunting skills or we would just be having vegetables that I saved in my rift. After dinner I put out the fire and went to sleep after a couple of nights I caved in and let the girls sleep next to me. As soon as I put my head on the pillow my eyes closed and I drifted.

Dream Sequence

I opened my eyes and found myself standing in the middle of the woods I looked around and noticed that the sky was all white with no clouds, no sun no nothing then I saw that there was no trees only a field of grass I did see a large mountain in the distance. I walked around for hours and found nothing when I tried to speak nothing came out it was then I tried to use my staff but realized that it was no longer with me not only was my staff gone but also my robes and other clothes I was in the same clothes I wore when I came to this world. I was pulled from my thoughts by the sound of lightning I looked forward and saw something strange there was a pillar of fire, a pillar of lightning, a pillar of water and a pillar of blowing air. I went to touch the pillar of air but it blew me back soon the pillars began to move quickly and started to swirl together into the shape of a stone that's when it hit me "time is like fire it burns like the life of a living creature, it couldn't be predictable and could constantly change like the path of a lightning bolt, it flowed like a river always moving forward never back and even though it was invisible like the air it was always around and could always be felt". While I was thinking the pillars reformed into a door with chains on it with a warning "beware he who dewls" then a loud roar echoed all around I looked up and saw a large shadow in the sky it roared again and charged at me in a panic I put my arms in front of me and closed my eyes.

Dream Sequence Over

I quickly jolted up and realized that I was no longer dreaming but that I was awake and sweating heavily. My sudden awakening startled the girls "what's wrong Abru?" Luna asked "yes Y/N what's wrong did you have a nightmare?" Nitra asked "no it wasn't a nightmare I just got startled that's all like I dreamt I was falling but nothing happened" I answered trying to reassure them that I was okay. The girls wanted to get on with the journey and make it to the temple but I stopped them I made a new fire and got out a pan from my rift along with some potatoes, eggs, sausage, bacon, onions and peppers. I showed the girls how to prepare the items and put them into the pan to make a breakfast scramble they didn't really want to eat but I told them "breakfast is the most important meal of the day and plus that stone isn't going anywhere anytime soon" with that the girls sat down and began to eat. The girls never tasted anything like the scramble before  and they made sure to let me know with that I put everything away got the girls up and we set out to the temple to find the next stone then get to shieldfreeden and meet up with Naofumi and the others.
