Y/n POV

I took a sip of water, taking a break from my punching bag. That's when I heard my phone ring. I walked over to it to see it was Engie again. I picked it up.

Y/n: hey Engie

Engie: hey. I just wanted to warn you of something. The first, and you probably know about it, is the group EMBER.

Y/n: yes I've heard. Dead vigilantes and everything.

Engie: good. Have your shotgun in your closet?

Y/n: you know it

Engie: good. That's all I have to say for now. Well keep you updated if we can find anything about EMBER

Y/n: alrighty. See ya

Engie: see ya

He then hung up and I put my phone down.

Time skip

I was hanging out with John and Sera on the roof.

Sera: what's wrong with you?

John: I just found out report cards come out this Friday. MAN, even the thought of it makes me anxious

Y/n: sucks for you

Sera: hey Y/n. I don't think I can give you that book back

John: what book?

Y/n: Unordinary. And Elaine found it, didn't she?

He went silent. Sera also went silent. Then John nodded.

John: figures

Sera: well...

Y/n: good job Sera. You failed at the one thing I said you had to do

Sera: ok i messed! Stop rubbing it in!

I laughed.

Y/n: chill out, I'm joking. So what ya gonna do now?

Sera: make sure they don't trace it back to you

Y/n: I mean what are you gonna do?

She shrugged.

Y/n: great. You have no plan, they found an illegal book in your possession and I don't even know. And I would say get my friends though last time that happened happened they had to work as mall Santa, and that was for killing someone

Sera: yeah I don't feel like I should trust them

Y/n: oh Engie you can trust. Him and myself are the most sane out of everyone

John: I like how your ignoring me

Y/n: sorry sorry

Time skip

I was walking through the halls looking over my grades. I did good, very good. That's when I bumped into someone, causing me to drop my papers.

I looked up to see the "king of the school" who I have found out is named Arlo.

Arlo: oh it's you again

I didn't say a word as I picked up my stuff.

Arlo: hey you ever heard of a binder?

I once more didn't say shit. Then I think he noticed what I was holding. And he say my grades.

Arlo POV

I looked at the guy's grades. He gets good grades and doesn't care for the hierarchy. He should have been put in his place.

Time skip

I was in a classroom with Isen.

Isen: uh...so you called me for?

Arlo: Isen I need your expertise. You can find information on anyone right?

Isen: that's kinda an overstatement, but what kind of info are you looking for specifically?

Arlo: do you know that kid in you grade, Y/n

Isen: the one cripple who always hangs around Seraphina? Yeah he's pretty infamous. Why are you interested in him?

Arlo: I had a few encounters with him. He doesn't talk, avoids talking in general, he's powerless, completely unaware of his surroundings gets good grades and doesn't have any respect for the hierarchy. He should have been put in his place a long time ago. Hey somehow he got into on of the top schools and can casually get along with Seraphina. The facts don't line up. I want you to find out about him, what's he hiding. Everything

Y/n POV

By complete accident I heard everything Arlo just said. I was walking by an empty classroom and heard voices. Me, being a good listener, listened in.

So after I walked away I called up the team.

Engie: hello?

Y/n: Engie, my complete data is wiped right?

Engie: yeah. It was when you started. Why?

Y/n: I just heard someone wanted info on me, see what I'm hiding. If you find anything else wipe it now

Engie: got it partner

I hung up the phone.

Y/n: alright Arlo. I'll play you little game, and help feed a small amount. But beware, a mercenary isn't someone you casually get info on

Time skip

I was walking back through the hallways when I saw on a bulletin board a paper. A death pool for superhero's.

I immediately took off my glove, spun up gunslinger before shredding the paper to bits. Then I put my glove back on.

I turned before seeing some dude stepping on a kids papers. Being filled with rage already I walked up to the guy and punched him smack across the face.

Y/n: there are people dying out there! And all you fucking do is enjoy people suffering!

I punched him again, across the face before knocking him into a wall.

Y/n: I would end you but I can't since were in school and my contract would be destroyed if I did. But you better leave now or I will rip you spine out your ass!

I left him there on the ground as I walked away.
