*Your pov.*

Cold and wet, tired and exhausted I make my way through the dark and empty streets. Rain patters against the ragged pavement. I pull the hood of my sweater over my head, cross my arms in front of my chest and keep walking. My eyes are fixed on the soaking asphalt. I count every puddle I pass and avoid stepping into one.

Tonight was unexpected. I witnessed something I thought I never would. I feel a tear run down my cheek as I replay the previous event in my head. Only some days ago I read something that said "Someone who overthinks is also someone who overloves" and I felt that, now more than back then. I am a person who tends to think a lot about the tiniest things and I am also a person who, when she falls in love, she falls deeply. This might sound fair and beautiful, but it's a curse. The person who I went through thick and thin with, who I loved most shattered my heart into a million pieces tonight.

My view is getting blurry from the tears forming in them. I snuffle and raise my head being able to see whatever is in front of me. Houses and street lights are decorating the bleak city, no people are in sight. Only then a vivid image of my boyfriend and my best friend laying naked in a king sized bed together appears before me.

He said he was sick and I should't visit him, but being the good girlfriend that I am I still walked to his house only to see him cheat on me with the girl I've known my whole life. My heart beats faster as I clench my hands into fists. Some minutes ago I was numb, I didn't feel anything, hell I didn't even know what to feel. But now I'm angry, no I'm furious.

Full of anger I turn the next corner into a narrow alley, not yet knowing what I'd walk into. I pull off the hood from my head giving the rain permission to fall onto my face. Before I'm able to enjoy the cold water on my heated skin I notice two men standing beneath a street light at the end of the alley. I watch them exchange money and quickly hide behind one of the big trash cans next to me.

Carefully I peek at them seeing one of the guys lift his head and scan the area, probably making sure no one saw them. His blonde wet hair is showing underneath the black hood of his sweater, his hands are stuck in his jeans pockets and the tattoo on his chest is clearly visible. As I examine him more closely I can see some features of his face, but only in that moment his eyes catch mine.

Instantly my whole body stiffens, I'm not able to to move. I watch him raise one of his brows, then look to the guy beside him. In that split second I was convinced I was going to be kidnapped or worse be killed tonight. But then the blonde one does something I did not at all expect: He whispers "Go" to me, allowing me to run away.

Just as I was about to leave I notice a tall muscular man sneak up behind the blonde guy with a gun in his hand. Without thinking I jump out of my stash.

»Watch out!«, I shout at the top of my lungs.

Within seconds the blonde one has pulled out his gun, turned around and knocked the man out. I sigh, relived nobody got murdered.

The blonde one turns to me, his eyes staring at mine and his lips forming into a small smile. Just when I thought this was over he lifts his hand pointing the gun in my direction. I close my eyes, pull my arms up in front of my face and scream as I hear several gunshots. After some seconds of silence I feel somebody take hold of my shoulder. Startled I pull down my hands and open my eyes widely.

»It's okay! I won't hurt you«, the blonde guy tells me,»But we have to go now!«

I look around me and notice a man laying on the ground behind me. There's blood dripping out of his left leg.

»You-you saved me«, I stutter.

»It's really not a big deal, but we should get going!«, he says dragging me out of the alley,»I know a safe place we can go.«
