This is just a little something to maybe put a smile on your face. I know it's an extremely difficult time right now, but eventually we'll make it through it. We just gotta stick together.

Also let me know in the comments if you've read the book that is mentioned in the story. :)

*Your pov.*

Within only a few months almost the entire world has come to a halt. Our daily lives have changed. They had to change for everyone's safety. A new unknown virus has spread across the whole planet. Most countries are in lockdown meaning the borders are closed. Flights have been cancelled. We can't travel. Schools, bars and restaurants are closed. Popular events like Coachella have been cancelled. These are all precautions to prevent the virus from spreading.

It is a horrifying time for all of us and a quite lonely one too. Most people are in quarantine and I'm one of them. I'm trying to stay at home as much as I can. The only time I go out is to grocery shop or to take a walk and enjoy some fresh air.

The circumstances are surely not a joke. It is serious. But with everything happening we have to keep sane. We got to try and somehow stay positive.

I would be in college right now attending lectures, studying with my roommate and going out every once in a while. But college is closed for the time being and we have online classes which isn't bad, but it's not the same obviously. I miss my roommate and the life on campus. However, I've been using the time at home to catch up on studies and hobbies like reading. I have an entire list of books I want to read and now is the perfect time to do so. Every week I'm reading another book. This week I was busy finishing Looking For Alaska by John Green. A novel I've been dying to read for ages.

»Don't you want to eat something, honey? Your dad bought some apples and bananas today. Also, I made some orange juice earlier, do you want some?«, my mom asks me as I pour myself a cup of coffee.

»No, thanks«, I reply taking a sip from the hot beverage and lightly burning my tongue.

»Are you sure? Fruit is good for your immune system«

»I've already eaten an apple. I'm good, mom«, I respond watching her sup up the orange juice,»I'll be in my room now, so please don't barge in like the last time.«

»Are you calling Carla again?«, she wonders taking a peek at the book in my left hand.

»Yes! We have a new novel to discuss«, I respond looking down at the post its sticking out of the book.

»Have fun!«, my mom calls after me as I rush into my room.

Quickly I turn on the string of lights above my bed, put the cup of coffee on the nightstand and grab my phone. I turn on the display and am instantly confronted with the clock on the lock screen. 7.58 pm. Swiftly I type in the password and open the FaceTime app. Only one more minute left.

Carla and I have been calling each other every week on Fridays to distract each other from what's currently happening and to end some of our boredom. But mostly to talk about the new book we both read over this week. She is my best friend and usually we would meet each other on weekends, but since we're in quarantine now we chose to have video chats.

8 pm. I tap on the number with Carla's name on it and wait for her to pick up. With an eager smile on my face I take a look at the novel on my lap. After some seconds someone answers the call, but when I catch sight of the screen again my facial expression changes. The smile on my lips fades when I behold of the unfamiliar face in front of me.

»You aren't Carla«, I whisper as I examine his appearance.

A guy I've never met in my life just picked up my call.
