Shuanghui's POV
We got to the restaurant first, I plugged in my headphones to my phone and listened to some music, the old man tried removing them but mother slapped his hand telling him to leave me alone, leading me to smirk at him, I sat down and crossed my right leg over my leg, tapping my fingers on my knee listening to music as we wait
after about five minutes an older couple walked in, and my parents stood up to greet them and they bowed to each other, I didn't hear what was said as I listened to my music,
A sharp pain shot up my shin as the old man's foot hit my shin, I slammed my hand down on the table and stood up glaring at my father, I opened my mouth to say something before the door opened again, and he walked in, his long, silky black hair was tied back and he was wearing a more casual like suit I suppose, a white shirt and blazer with black trousers
I sat back down and he looked at me as I stared at him, taking in his details more this time, sitting back down in my seat, he rubbed the back of his neck before looking towards his parents, he had a dark glare fixed to the older man that softened as he turned towards the older with a cute smile.
the older man gave the boy an apologetic look as the boy sat next to me, he crossed his left leg over his right resting both hands on his knee
there was a moment of silence before my mother and the other woman spoke at the same time
"where's the marriage partner you wanted our son to meet," my mother asked the old man" whereas the other woman's question was aimed towards the boy sitting next to me, almost as if the other old man was invincible "where's the person you wanted me to meet dear" her voice was smoother then my mothers, relaxing and calming, sweet like honey, It kind of made me want to smile
I remained quiet, so did the boy, mothers glare shot towards the other woman in the room before both of their glares turned dark as they looked towards the men they married
soon enough there was a full-blown argument happening, I sucked in a breath and looked towards Mengrui
"did you know?"
he gave me a questioning look "did I know what?" his voice was sort of cold, not like it was when I heard him at our wedding, maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, not that we spoke to each other
"did you know you were marrying a man?" I asked back in a cold tone
"not till I was there"
"were you not even shocked, you didn't sound it when greetings my father"
he scoffed, "like you have anything to say about that, you didn't seem the least bit bothered till after"
he ate some of the soup that was placed in front of him as our parents argued, before I could respond to him, the other woman slammed both her hands down on the table "we are leaving!" she said as she turned her head to Mengrui
Mengrui stood up to listen to his mother, he stared at the bowl of soup in disgust, before heading to the door
I quickly got up and grabbed his arm, I didn't have time to think or stop myself as I said "I need to speak with my husband for a minute" the shocked faces of everyone as I pulled him out of the room, I was kind of irritated by his attitude.
I shut the door as we left and looked at him, he frowned and stared at me "what do you want?"
"I didn't know, till after, till after we were married and having the photo taken" I frowned at him in return, he looked as though he didn't believe me I let out a sigh and continued "the shades the old man made me wear, they were to stop me seeing who I was getting married to, If I..." I stopped
the boy looked dazed in front of me and had paled, I stared at him "what's wrong?"
he shook his head but fell back against the wall, I stepped forward catching him in my arms "Mengrui?"
"h... hospital" he breathed out before falling limp in my arms, I scooped him up and rushed out of the restaurant, waiting for an ambulance would take too long
I got to my bike and caged him on putting my helmet on him, this wasn't safe or legal but I needed to help him, Quickly I skidded and sped off from the restaurant and headed straight for the hospital
after about ten minutes I stopped outside I quickly removed the helmet from him and carried him inside "help" I called out, he was breathing but barely, almost struggling, I lay him on the stretcher the nurses brought over and the doctor held me back a bit as they rushed him towards the emergency room, a nurse took his place as he followed after them
"what's your relationship to the patient?" the shorter woman in scrubs and a hairnet asked me, she had a mask on her face and a pair of thin-rimmed glasses
"his husband" I breathed outstaring in the direction they took Mengrui
"What happened?" she asked and when I didn't reply she spoke again "we need to know what happened to help him, sir"
I looked at her before shaking my head and rubbing my face "we were talking, then he suddenly paled and looked dazed, he stumbled back but I caught him and he just about breathed out of the hospital, now we are here"
she frowned "what happened before that?"
"We were in a private room, at a restaurant and our parents were arguing, we were talking, he had" I paused for a minute trying to remember what my father had ordered "he had some of the fish stew before we left the room"
the nurse nodded and walked away before I had a chance to ask how Mengrui was, I bit my lip and called my mother
the phone was picked up after the first ring "Shuanghui where the hell are you" my mother yelled out, she's rarely angry at me for things like this but she sound furious
"Ma" I managed to breathe out, biting my lip more "bring his parents to the hospital"
"Hospital?" just at that she seemed to have calmed a little "Shuanghui what happened?"
"hospital?" I heard that soft honey-like voice echo through the phone in worry
"I... I don't know, just get here please" I stuttered out, I shut the phone off after that and looked towards the door in worry "what happened?" I whispered to myself
