I Came Back For You

Chapter Nine

Jeffs Pov

Last night when I came to pick Eva up, I found a guy pointing a gun at her and I was so scared that he was going to hurt her.
I quickly dialled 911 then I thought of attacking the guy before he hurts Eva. His body was turned to Eva so I had a better chance to attack him from behind. I took my steps carefully and when I got near him I turned to see if I could find just anything to hit him but before I could do anything, Eva turned around and when she saw me,she panicked and the man noticed there was someone behind him. I was about to hit him with my hands but he was too quick to hit me with his gun on my head and before I knew it, I was on the floor laying there.

I heard the police car arrive and they arrested the man before he escaped. A police officer came to where I was and he told me to hang on as he called for an ambulance. I felt my head get so heavy and it was hurting so much.
Eva came besides me crying and I reached to wipe her tears but I couldn't because the pain was getting worse every second. I felt so helpless as I watched her cry on my chest.
My eyes started getting heavy and I was seeing darkness all over sudden. I closed them and from a far I could hear Eva call my name and begging me to stay with her. I tried to stay on but I couldn't.

"Please Jeff don't leave me. I love so much please don't go away. I love you baby plee..." I wanted to smile and hug her at her confession but I couldn't do anything. She went on crying and after a while I couldn't hear anything.

As I laid in my hospital bed, I replayed the last nights memories and I couldn't help at the thought of Eva confessing her love for me. She may have been forced by the circumstances but it still made me happy. I don't know if she really meant that but deep inside I hoped she was in love with me too.

The first time I saw her at the cafeteria, I had a crush on her but I thought that that was just it. I have no idea how it all came to grow into love. I never told her because to her I was always her best friend and she never seemed to be interested in me in that way.

I remember there was a day I almost told her how I felt but being the coward I way, I ended up asking her if she loved "teddy bears that were big with big eyes and nose and mouth and big hands." She laughed at me saying that I sounded like a five years old boy.
"What are you saying Jeff😂😂😂you sound like a five year old boy. Anyway, I don't like those big teddies with big nose and big mouth blah blah blah. Am not a baby anymore"

"I thought that maybe you loved them. I know many girls who love them. Most guys buy for their girls during Valentine's"

"Yeah I know but honestly, I don't like them."

"Well,okay"

I never said it to her and after I heard her say that she loves me last night. I decided to tell her even if I wasn't sure what kind of love she was talking about.

Knock knock

I was distracted from my thoughts from a knock on the door door and my mum came in with a basket of fruits.

"Hey mum. Am glad you came"

"Hey Jeff. I may not care what goes on in your life but am still your mother you Know"

"That's not what I meant mum"

"Whatever, anyway, how are you feeling. What did the doctor say"

"Am getting better. The doctor said I'd be here for three more days so that I can have time to fully recover"

"Oh, I see. Where is that girl who got you in this state. You know its her fault that you're here. If you didn't go to her place you wouldn't be laying on a hospital bed. You should be careful with the people you associate yourself with. Instead of running after some random girl you should be running your dad's business"

"Mum she's not just a random girl. She is my best friend and am glad that I was there to save her even though I got hurt. None of this is her fault."

"That's your problem now. Anyway I just came here to see you not to quarrel. Am leaving for Bartio to check on your dad's company but when I come back we're going to talking. I can't be looking after what is yours while you go chasing after girls. Bye"
She kissed me on the forehead and left.

My mum was so strange. One minute she cares about me the next she doesn't want to see me. I never understood her but I still loved her anyway.

I heard my phone vibrate and I looked at it to see Eva texting me saying she was on her way here. I smiled to myself and put the phone back.

I just hoped that Eva loved me like I loved her because if she did,then there would be nothing holding us now.
She was kind hearted, caring and insanely beautiful. Her eyes were so adorable and her smile was amazing. There's not a day that passed when I didn't think of her since I met her.
The fact that she didn't know how beautiful she was,made her more beautiful. She was really an angel.
