Eva's pov

When I got home I found James had already arrived and he was in the kitchen talking on the phone.

Kei went running to his arms and he picked him while I brought the luggages into the kitchen.
He was already done talking on the phone and now he was playing with Kei when I brought the last bag.

"Hey hon. Where did you go, I called you several times but you didn't pick the calls, not to mention when you picked you didn't talk"

"Am sorry hun. I rushed somewhere with a friend and I didn't have a chance to call you. The time you called and I picked, I had a meeting with my new boss and I couldn't speak."

"Your new boss?"

"Yes baby, I found a new job and with a higher payment."

Wow, and I was fuming all afternoon because he didn't help me with Kei. I couldn't help but smile. I walked to him and hugged him tightly and thanked God for the wonderful news.

"Thanks be to God. I can't believe you lost your job just yesterday and today you found a new one with a higher payment on top. That's just amazing, am so happy for you baby"

"It's called God's favor. When one door closes, he opens another,hmm"
He kissed me on the cheek and I could feel how happy he was about his job.

"We should celebrate about this then" I said as I walked away to find Kei who was lying on the floor while playing with his toys.

"Definitely, am going to be the chef today and I'll prepare the best meal ever. You just take care of other things and I'll take care of our stomachs." He came behind me and kissed my neck and then I turned to him and kissed him on the lips. We kissed for a while when we heard the front door open and we let go of each other. We never did some stuff around the kids because it was kinda uncomfortable, I'll let you know why later.

"Mum we're home" I heard
Alice call from the living room.
I smiled to myself as I remembered that it was only yesterday that we had cancelled her birthday and before she even knew it, the party was on again.

"In the kitchen sweetie" Kei rolled on the floor and stood up taking his baby steps running to Alice who picked him up and carried him to the kitchen.

"Dad, didn't you go to work today?" She asked confused and at the same time happy to see her dad.

She hugged him and then looked at him for an answer

"I lost my job yesterday sweetie"

"That's why you'll not be having your party Ally" Sam said coming to the kitchen and Alice's eyes became watery.

I looked at James and he gave me a knowing look.

Before I could speak Alice left the kitchen and went to her room tears running down her face.

"You shouldn't have told her that you know. I'd have taken care of it" I said eyeing Sam but he smiled.

"Mum I know dad got another job. I talked to him an hour ago and he told me that. I wanted to see how the princess of the house would handle the case of not having everything she wants"

"Stop saying that about your sister" I hit him on his head and he groaned.

"Okay sorry. I think I can come up with a better plan about this whole issue"

"No stupid plans from you Sam" James says in a serious tone

"Relax dad, leave everything to me. I'll handle Alice"

"I don't trust you at all" I said to him

"Trust me on this one. You'll thank me later"

He walked away and I turned to James who was cutting onions.

"Do you need any help hun"

"Nope, am okay, just go on and do your things"

"Okay then. But call me if you need anything"

"Am okay hun" he said and I walked away carrying Kei in my arms. I gave him a shower and dropped him to Sam's room and then I headed back to my room.

I took a hot shower as I reminisced about the events that had taken place that day.
It was such a long day but at the end I had a reason to keep smiling, that reason being my family.
