We made our way to a small island. Eva looked at me "Where are we going?
"There's a beach restaurant over there. It's local but it has pretty good food. You'll like it"
"You should have told me earlier that we were going to a beach. At least I'd have worn something appropriate for.."
"It wouldn't have made any difference because you look good in every thing you wear. Besides, someone told me that it's more fun having an unplanned moment"
"So you hadn't planned on us coming here?"
"Honestly, I had not planned anything about us going out. It just happened and at first I didn't know where to take you until I remember this place"
I pulled the chair for her to sit and I sat right across to her. The waiter came and took our orders and left.
"So you've been here before"
"Yeah, I used to come here with my friends but when they left I never came back. It's a special place for me"
"So why did you bring me here then"
"Because you're special to me and it feels good to be here again with someone I care so much about"
"You're so cheesy today. Thanks anyway, I appreciate"
The food arrived and we ate in silence only glancing at each other every time.
"Where do we go now?" Eva looked at me and I shrugged my shoulders.
"I have no idea, what about you"
"Maybe we could just take a walk and watch everything that's in this place. It looks beautiful"
"Well I think it's only beautiful because you're here" I said looking into her eyes and I felt fear overwhelm me. I was afraid that I might talk too much and send her away. I saw a look in her eyes that I couldn't figure out what it was. Like she was searching for something in my eyes. We stood there holding each other's eyes until..
"Let's race each other and see who gets to that tree first" She suggested as she ran faster before I could even figure out what she had said
"Wait up Eva. You didn't even give me time and still we didn't count to three" I yelled at her but she ignored me and continued running. I ran behind her and soon I caught up with her and held her hand but she tried to pull it out of my grip which led to us falling down.
"Fuck..are you hurt" I looked at her and she had her eyes closed as if she was in some sort of pain.
Silence
"Eva" I shook her but she was layed there still
I got up and quickly pulled her to me. Her upper part laying on my legs. I tried to shake her but she didn't respond. I got really nervous and I almost called out for help when I heard her burst with laughter. I closed my eyes and threw my head back as I felt tears fall.
I pulled myself away from her and stood up. She looked at me and noticed that I wasn't laughing with her and she got up coming to me."Am sorry Jeff, I was just playing"
"Is that what you call playing? You made me think that you were really hurt all because of me and you tell me you were playing? I think it's good if we just go home"
"C'mon, I said am sorry. Please"
"Whatever, let's just go"
I was so pissed with her that I couldn't stay here anymore.
The ride back home was quite. Eva tried to talk to me but I didn't feel like talking so I just gave her one word to her questions and even ignored her until she gave up and fell asleep.
I felt bad that I wasn't talking to her but you couldn't blame me. I seriously thought she was hurt back then and I got so worried and scared. I couldn't even think straight when I tried waking her up but she couldn't respond. I really love her and just thinking that something bad had happened to her broke my heart to pieces. I know I was overreacting but who wouldn't when the person you love lies about getting hurt only for you to find out it was just an act.
I dropped her at her home and woke her up. I wanted to talk to her so that we could clear things but she beat to it.
"Thanks for the day Jeff and am sorry for spoiling it for you. Bye."
She quickly opened the door and left before I had a chance to talk to her. I felt a sharp pain in my heart but I just ignored and left.
Two weeks had passed and still Eva and I weren't in speaking terms. She ignored my calls and never replied to my messages.
Today I decided I'd put an end to this cold treatment. I went to her working place and found her almost closing. She looked at me and then went back to finishing her calculations completely ignoring my presence.
"Until when are you going to be cold with me Eva?" I asked her as I moved close to her. She moved a little further away but I moved closer and she gave up."Will you talk or are we going to stay like this forever?"
She gave me an evil look and I could just tell how angry she was at me."If I remember correctly, you were the one who started it all. I apologized and even tried to talk to you but you decided being cold with me was the best thing to do" she replied still looking at her book
"I was pissed off that day and you know why. Can we just drop this blame game and be cool? Please" She looked at me and rolled her eyes and that was more than enough signal to tell me we were cool.
Two weeks had felt like years with Eva giving me cold treatments but I was so happy it was all over.
