It's been two weeks since Sally became my "fiancee". We'll be getting married in a week since she's pregnant and we don't want anybody to know the child isn't mine therefore we have to get married as soon as possible.
The father to her baby doesn't know about it yet because of "some reasons" that Sally didn't tell me about.
I've been trying to reach Eva but I haven't been lucky to get through to her.
I'd have gone to see her but I'm so tied up with work and the "wedding" preparations. But
the good thing is that Sally knows about my relationship with Eva and she respects that.
"You really made the best choice not to marry Eva. She may have accepted to get married to you only to help you with your business but maybe she wouldn't have been ready for it. From the things you've been telling me about her, I must say she's a wonderful lady. Don't worry Jeff, it's only for six months and you'll be back in her arms for good"
"I just hope she'll understand me" I'm having a conversation with Sally about our situation and she's just good at listening and giving advices.
"It would have been better if you went to her and explained everything before the wedding but since we have no time let's just hope she will. I can't promise you that she will because if I was in her shoes i
"I hope so" I say more to myself
"If it makes you feel any better, we'll explain things to her together."
"That's so kind of you Sally, but I better fix this on my own"
"I insist. We'll go to her and explain everything right after the wedding. That way,any questions she'll be having we'll answer them both." She squeezes my hand and give me a warm smile. She's so kind.
One week later
"Hey wifey.. Are you ready? I'm coming to pick you up in about 20 minutes so that we can go to see Eva" I chuckle as I hold my phone with my shoulder while packing my things.
"Yeah. You're the one keeping me" she says in a as a matter of fact tone.
"Okay, I'm done with work here so I'll see you soon. Take care of yourselves"
"Ourselves?..oh, yeah..yes dad. We will" she says laughing and I can't help but smile. I may not be in love with Sally but I care so much about her well being and that of her unborn baby. For the short time we've known each other, she has been a good friend and an amazing one.
"Okay. See you" I hung up as I pick up my things from the office and head out.
After some few minutes
I pull the car to my driveway and go to the house to call Sally since she's not picking up my calls.
I call her name as I walk to the kitchen to drink some water but still no answer
I head upstairs and when am about to open the door to my room, I look at Sally's room which is opened and my eyes land on a body lying on the floor.
"Sally. What... Sally!" I run to her and try to shake her but she doesn't respond
I quickly dial 911 and in a few minutes she's being driven away in an ambulance and I follow behind with my car.
It's been almost an hour since we got here and the doctors haven't come out of Sally's room. Her dad is with me and he looks so worried and angry that it scares me.
"Look here Jeff. If something happens to my daughter, I swear to the living.." he doesn't get to finish his threat as he is interrupted by the doctor.
"Are you the family to Sally.." he goes to ask but Charles cuts him off
"Yes. I'm her father..is my daughter okay?" He sounds so desperate right now. I've never seen him like this before for all the time I've known him. This is just a new side of him.
The doctor smiles and I feel all the tension slip away.
"Yeah. She just got dizzy and fainted but she's okay. She and the baby are fine. You just have to allow her to rest for a week or two and make sure she isn't left all alone."
"Can we see her now doctor" I ask when he finishes talking earning a nod from him
We go to her room and find her seated on her hospital bed and she sees us her face lighten up and she smiles at us
"Daddy. Jeff" she calls
"Hey princess. How are you feeling my darling" her dad goes to her and kisses her cheeks then sits beside her
" Am okay dad. It was nothing serious"
"How are you feeling now" I finally ask
"Am perfectly fine Je.. baby, thanks for asking"
"Honey I thought you were on your honeymoon" her dad asks and a look of shock covers her face but then disappears and she smiles again
"Dad we decided to push our honeymoon further until the baby is born"
"That far? Why is that?" He asks suspiciously
"Well because..we want to have a lot of fun together but since am pregnant, I'll be limited to do certain things so we decided it would be much better if we just waited" wow, such a nice lie. Today she'll get to eat chocolates for that
"But are you okay with that" her dad asks in concern and I can tell he doesn't trust me with his daughter. Well, I wouldn't trust me either if I was another person
"Dad am okay. My husband and I talked about it and we're both okay with it. Right honey" she winks at me and I smile
" Yeah" I finally manage to say
The truth is, we just decided not to go to the honeymoon because it made no sense to both of us.
I'd have gone with Sally but she told me that would complicate things with Eva so I changed my mind it.
"The doctor said I can go home today" she says after a long silence and we all nod.
