"Eva what happened" I ask as I walk to where she's standing and when she sees me she runs in to my arms as tears start falling from her eyes. I can't deny I love it when she's in my arms but then seeing her this helpless breaks my heart into pieces.
"Baby what happened?" I ask her as I feel her trembling in my arms
"It's James, he...he.." she tries to explain
"Excuse me ma'am, sir..are you the family of Mr James.." the doc doesn't finish her sentence as she gets interrupted by Eva
"Yes..how is my husband? Can I go see him, please"
"Come down Eva" I pull ever back to me as I rub her back to calm her "doc..how is the patient?" I ask
"He has severe head injuries and his spinal broke,sir, we've tried our best but I'm afraid he doesn't have much time left" the doc says as she gives us a sympathetic look
"Oh nooo...not my husband please" Eva breaks into tears again and I feel a tear escape from my eye "he can't leave me, he can't leave our kids nooo... please" I hold her closer to me as she continues crying
"The patient wants to talk to you miss Eva. I suggest you try to pull yourself together so that you don't stress him so much" the doc finally says and she walks away
"Eva calm down. You need to be strong for him and for your kids" I whisper to her as I hold her face I'm my arms and she nods. Her eyes are puffy and she looks tired
"Wait. I need to get the kids here. You know, so that they can.."
"Yeah, I know. I'll go get them as you talk to him. I should be back in half an hour or so" I said as I kissed her forehead and she nodded
"Thank you so much Jeff, I don't know what I'd have done"
"It's nothing Eva. You know I'll always be here for you no matter what. Now go inside and I'll go get the kids" I say as I give her a hug and she leaves.
Eva
"James..hey" I look at his body which has been fixed in machines. His head is wrapped in bandanges . He looks at me and tears start flowing from his eyes. I try to control myself but it's hard. How do you just look at your dying husband and pretend that there's nothing wrong, that everything is okay as if he doesn't have some few hours left before he dies. That is impossible.
"Ee..va my d..arling" he tries to say but I move closer to him and try to stop him from talking but he won't stop "I'm so..soo..ry.. I-I won't be....a..ble to.. be th..ere....t...to. watch our kids grow..b-but I k-now you that I will leave them in better hands. I know they'll grow up to be better people. It b..reaks....my heart to know that I won't be there to help you but...I know you can do it. You're a s..trong...wo..man Eva, and..I..know you'll...bring out t...he best in..them. I'm s-sorry for...leaving you..like t..his honey.. I wish... I-I cou..ld get to see m..my b..abies..before..."
"Calm down honey, they'll be here in no time. Jeff offered to pick them up" I say as I spare him from talking too much.
"Oh, that's..so n..ice..of him.. I had g-gone...to meet up..with h..im be...fore I got into th..at ac..cident.. I sh..ould h-have..known b-better...Evvaa...Jeff...iss..a great man and he loves you. It's not easy for a man to say w..hat I'm saying right now b..ut th...en I kn..ow th..at he's t..he only one who can m...ake you truly h..appy. You..w..ere ha.ppy b-by my s...ide but I k..now y-you'd be ha...ppier.."
"James please, this is not the right time for that. Let's not talk about that.." I try to change the topic but he is so persistent
"Th..ere iss n..ever.. a..r.. right time to talk about it. I-I know y-you"re in love w..with him too. Don't worry, I don't..f..eel bad a..bout it. I k..new it r..ight fro..m the beg...inning and I was okay with it. Yo..u..loved me b..ut you were never in lo..ve with me..."
"Excuse me miss.You'll step out for a while,we need to run some tests" The nurse says and I lean down and peck James and then I head out.
"Hey, you're already here" I say as I walk to my kids who are sitting with Jeff outside the room.
"Mommy, where's daddy.. what happened" Alice walks towards me and hugs me
"How is he? Is he going to be okay?" Sam asks as he carries Keam in his arms
"He's inside that room. We should go see him after the nurse is done." I say as I hug all of them and we go to sit down.
"Guys, I need to tell you something" Alice and Sam turn their heads to me and from what I can see on their faces, they're already aware of what I'm going to tell them
"What is it mom" Sam asks as tears start flowing from his eyes. I feel a pang of pain across my heart. How do I even break the news to them without hurting them?
"Your dad got into a fatal accident which caused a severe head damage and also his spinal broke. He can't talk properly so when you go in there try to understand. He doesn't have much time left so please stay strong if you can. He has some few hours left" I say as I try to be strong but then when I look at Alice who's beyond shock, I break into tears and Jeff who's been silent all this time picks Keam from my laps and walks away with him. The boy is confused with the whole situation.

My apologies for not updating for a very very long time.. I've been busy with work and all hence the delay
I'll try to update more often so that we can get done with this book as soon as possible..
Btw we've got less than ten chapters remaining, I hope I'll be able to complete the story by the end of May.
