I Came Back For You

Chapter Thirteen

It was around seven in the morning and I was in the kitchen having my breakfast when i heard a knock on the door. I open the door to be greeted by Brian. I moved aside so that he could get in then I closed it.

"What do you want n.."

"Listen Eva, I didn't come here to fight with you, okay! my dad just died and the people who killed are looking for me. He told me that he owed them some money and before they killed him they said they would go after me, that's what he told me before he died. I need the money to pay off the debt and I promise I will disappear. Am going to leave this place so don't worry coz am never coming back. Please!"
I knew from the look on his face that he was telling the truth. It wasn't fair though that they used up all their money with gambling and then turn to me and grab what was left to me by force.
But I still decided to help him out coz he was still family. I wouldn't want him dead just because of money.

"What amount are we talking about here?" I asked him and I saw a flash of emotion cross his eyes.

" Five.."

"Five what?"

"Five hundred thousands"

"What? Brian are you crazy, that would mean closing my business permanently. I can't give you all that"

" So you're going to keep your business and watch me die,huh? Eva please. Your boyfriend will pick you up am sure of that"

"So you are asking for all that huge amount because you know that my boyfriend will help me,huh? Well for your information, Jeff isn't my boyfriend and even if he is, I wouldn't go begging him for money. Am giving you two fifty"

"C'mon Eva.."

"Take or leave"

"Okay then. Two fifty"

I wrote a check and signed it and gave it to him. He looked at it then smiled.

"Am coming for the other half in two weeks time so get it ready" before I could say anything he opened the door and left.

I checked on my phone and saw a text message from Jeff saying he was on his way here to take me to work. It was sent 20 minutes ago and he wasn't here yet, wierd. I went to my room and prepared myself and Jeff had not arrived yet. I decided to go alone but when I was closing the door, I saw him pulling into my compound.

"Hey Kitty, you ready?"

"Hey Jeff. What took you so long"

"I rushed to town before I came here that's why. Someone's mad at me?"

"No, don't be silly. I was just wondering"

I said as I opened the passenger's door and got in.

I was on my way to Eva's when I saw his step brother going there too. I knew he was up to no good so I packed my car and followed him to Eva's.
He knocked and got inside the house and I stood by the door waiting to hear any commotion. I heard the whole conversation and what made me angry was the fact that he was forcing Eva to give him a huge amount of money and even promised to come back for the rest.
I knew Eva's business was doing better but if she misused the money it would go down. Helping her was my priority right now but I knew she wouldn't accept my help.
I decided to talk to Brian and pay him off the other half. He asked for an three hundred thousands so that he could keep it a secret and I agreed. I had to drive to town so that I could withdraw the money and give it to him before going back to Eva's.

"Thanks man, tell Eva am never coming back to bother her again."

"Can I ask you something Brian?"

"You already did"

"Why do you always treat Eva as if she isn't your sister. You may not be related by blood but you're family. You just fail to see what a precious gift you have for a sister and instead you become cruel to her"

"That's why you're there bruh, to enjoy all that while am away hahaha. Anyway I promise I will think about that, okay! See you around..no wait..am never seeing you again" he laughed an evil laugh and left. I shook my head and went to my car.

My mum was insisting that I leave the town and go to look after my dad's business, which was mine now,at Bartio. I had refused at first but after giving it a thought, I realized I was not growing any younger and I needed to be responsible. I just didn't want to leave Eva. I loved her so much and I didn't trust distance relationships. I was so lost right now but I was just going to find a way.

The worst part was that I didn't know if she loved me too. I had to find out very soon before I made any decisions.
