I Came Back For You

Chapter Twenty Two

I can't seem to get my mind off the memories of today. I just hoped that Jeff would just let things be. I know that a part of me wishes for things to be different but the other logic part of me was okay with everything that happened.

"He is back, isn't he?" I get a little jumpy when I here James voice behind me. He kisses my neck and my shoulder and then he sits up. I didn't here him coming inside.

"Who is back?" I furrow my brows and look at him confused

"You know what am talking about."

"No I don't. Would you care to.." he cut me off this time.

"Jeff. Your ex to be specific" he looks at me but shows no expression.

"How did you know?" I ask him a little bit nervous.

"Is he back?" He stresses the word back as he raises one of his brows.

"Yeah. He's back" I say looking away. I always feelbso uncomfortable with the topic and I always avoid it but today isn't my lucky day.

"You should invite him for dinner" he says as he gives me a smile.

"What?" I asked him suprised by his suggestion

"You heard me baby. Invite him for dinner tommorow." I can't believe him right now. How can I invite trouble in my own family. That will never happen.

"It will happen. Because if you don't then I will invite him." This is crazy. I can't even believe I spoke out that loud.

"Why do you want him hear? You know the kids will want to know who he is and I can't possibly tell them he is my ex and neither will I lie to them."

"I don't want him here. You do. Don't worry about the kids either, they don't need to know."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Alice will be spending the night at her friends and Sam borrowed my car because he has a date with his girlfriend tommorow. Kei should not worry you."

"What kind of a game is this James?" He still has that smile in his what is wrong with him? What man insists on having dinner with his wife's ex? Something must be wrong with him.

"C'mon, let's get some sleep hun. We have a busy day tomorrow" I look at him pure shock written all over my face but his face shows no emotion.He is so calm.

I wake up to no one besides me. James doesn't go to work on Saturdays therefore he doesn't wake up that early. I walk to the bathroom but he isn't there. I brush my teeth before I make my way to the kitchen where I find everyone seated as they chat and share little laughs.

"Good morning everyone" I smile at them and Kei runs to me spreading his arms for me to take him.
They all greet back and I move to sit beside Alice who is checking herself on a small mirror, this girl.

"How was your night honey" I ask her and she puts the mirror down to give me her attention.

"It was so fun mum. I only had two hours to sleep after everyone left and Kei came to my room to wake me up" she says and you can see excitement in her face."by the way mum, thanks for yesterday. At first I thought everyone didn't remember it was my birthday only to be suprised later." She gives her biggest smile as she speaks.

"Don't thank me dear. It was all your brothers idea. We only gave him a hand since he was busy with school work but all credit goes to him." She looks a little suprised but she stands and hugs her brother.

"I didn't think you'd think of anything like that" she says as she takes her sit

"Are you trying to imply that I Sam Winston am not that creative" Sam raises his brows at his sister and everyone including him erupt in a loud laughter.

"No Sam. After you told me you were taking your girlfriend on a date, I couldn't see you doing all this for me"

"Did you expect me to tell you that 'hey Ally, I have a surprise party for you at home later' seriously Ally, it was a surprise and I had to distract you so everything would go as planned" he wiggles his brows at her.

"You really got me you know. I was so angry at you coz I couldn't imagine you ditching me on my birthday just to be with your girlfriend. I mean, yeah she's  your girl but on my birthday? Anyway thanks alot for yesterday. It was the best birthday party ever"

"You mean the it was better than the one you had when you were five Ally" James asks aa he sets our breakfast that he just finished making on the table.

"Oh, the one I wore a princess dress and Elam was my prince. That dad will always be the best except the part where Elam stepped on my gown causing me to trip" we all laugh again at her memory.

"Speaking of Elam. I heard that he was the first to wish you a happy birthday and even gave you a gift." Sam says but Ally shoots him an evil glare and we all go silent.

"What did that boy give you Ally" James asks in a serious tone. I shoot him a look and he loosens up."Speak up young lady" James starts again but he's much cooler.

"It was just a bracelet that has my name on it dad" she says a little bit annoyed. I swear this girl is something. She always wants to have her own way and that's why we always keep our eyes on her.

"I really don't trust that boy." James shakes his head.

"Relax honey. Elam isn't a bad boy. I know him so well" I say as I give my brother a look but he is busy on his phone.
